A counselor, during my marriage, had to explain this fact to me every time my wife said she wanted a divorce. He said "she doesn't want a divorce, just loves the control it gives her over you when she doesn't get her way". Yeah he was absolutely right! After I got tired of the threats and went and filed myself, went 50/50 with the kids assets etc... All the things she said we could do when it was her idea, and holding over my head. Well, she freaked out and spent the next year fighting it and not showing up to status conferences until it almost came to trial. After it was finalized, she tried twice to reconcile, came to me and indicated she'd be open to getting back together. I declined and have been way happier ever since.

When your wife thinks it's her ''right'' to be mean to you, get your divorce affairs in order. By that I mean a huge home improvement loan, deposited in an offshore trust, same with retirement assets. If you live in a ''no fault'' state you WILL get screwed in da pooper. Well, sound like your wife was just telling you she wasn't suitable for commitment. So you called her bluff. It's not about the threats she makes. She's announcing she's not suitable for that kind of commitment and you accepted that and did what was necessary (she's either all 'in' or she's 'out'). Once you've accepted she's not suitable, there's nothing she can do to a man with resolve and acceptance to reconcile (you've already accepted that it's over and reconciled that in your own mind... and she's somebody else's problem now).

Life is not a Danielle Steele novel and remember ladies, if you feel annoyed, aggravated and out off by your husband, he probably feels the exact same about you! Be understanding, give him his space and take yours. Understand that everything you’ve been claiming you “want and need” in a relationship, he has the same wants and needs. Women these days change more than a baby changes it's diaper. More and more men are starting to not want to be bothered at all. No dating no relationships, no children, and women just keep blaming us when we are around then blame us when we leave. At what point do men just say fuck it?. And before you say something about there are still good women out there. It's not worth the effort anymore for every 1 "good" woman a man can find there are 20 over sexed, in and out of relationship, heading towards sex work women. Even the good woman has the potential to turn bad once she secures a relationship so again why even bother. Men are born alone so we might as well die that way too.

She thinks I hate women but her opinion of men is far worse than mine of women, and even then I’m careful with my words but she uses general language and vague terms. She refuses to acknowledge false accusations destroying innocent men’s lives. She wouldn’t understand or even listen unless it affected her husband or her sons if she had any. For 20 years I had a wife that always said "well if you dont like it , there is the door" .. and she said this because early on we had kids , so she knew that child support and visitations were a deterrent.. So this was her end the discussion move as our marriage progressed .. Problem is one day neither of the boys were minors, so there was no child support or visitation , or anything else to hold over my head. I TOLD her about 6 months after our youngest turned adult age that she couldn't say that to me any more as there was nothing to keep me under her thumb other than the fact that I was CHOOSING to stay. One saturday morning she was on a tirade because she had forgotten to write down a password to one of her credit accounts. I was simply walking to the bathroom when I was attacked over said password, which I did NOT know , but for some reason I was supposed to, when I simply told her " You have got to start writing your passwords down like I have told you 20 times before." yep , that lit the fuse on that bottle rocket! And of course along the way I got the "if you dont like it , theres the door.." So at that point I became Sgt. Schultz, and I shut up until she left the house a few hours later .. I put some clothes in the car and some other belongings , and went to stay with a family member for a few days and didnt answer my phone for that time.. When I did speak to her I was accused of 'shacking up ' with one of my oldest friends .. Yeah I wasnt even at her house.. then was informed that the locks on the house had been changed , I was told that if I wanted to come home I was going to have to beg her and tell her how I would change.... Yeah , I chuckled and told her that if she wanted to actually talk to call me .. next thing I received was divorce papers and a phone call from her outlining 'how this was going to go'.. She basically was demanding I signed over the house , and I traded my car which was paid for and in my sole name for her new car because she no longer wanted that payment.. My name was nowhere on her new car she just HAD to buy FYI.. We live in a no fault state .. so if there are no minor children its a straight split of assets vs. debts. Well long story short , I had no credit cards , and my name wasnt on any of HER credit cards so they were solely hers , the house appraised out at 185k and we owed 60 k, and it was the only thing we really owned 'jointly". She wanted to keep the house so It cost her $62,500 to keep it. waiting for my payout check to arrive as I type. Ladies- be careful what you use to keep a man under your thumb because one day you will not have that leverage. Then you will get what you have asked for. She did. I now have my freedom, life is pretty stress free with no harpy on my back, and I wouldnt go back to that for a million dollars. I got to walk and she had to pay me to do it.

Divorced man here. The year after we split up was one of the hardest years of my life. I lost everything except my dog. I made certain he was safe before everything went nuclear. 5 years later though, I had a job, my own place, my dog was healthy and happy and I felt so much freedom. The weight of taking care of her was gone and I was able to breathe again. I found my peace and happiness and haven't looked back since.

These women are insane! "I want a 50/50 partnership. He needs to provide for me, pay all the bills, do all the house repairs, do all the lawn work, do all the car repairs, do all the "man" stuff, and do half of the domestic choirs, but we are equals, with equal say as long as he does what I tell him to. A 50/50 partnership." What do you mean I have to pay half for the date!? It's a 50/50 partnership, the man is supposed all the work and pay everything, while the woman tells him what to do. That's 50/50.

Was married for almost 23 years. My now ex, filed for divorce in an attempt to snap me back into line so I would get back to doing whatever she said whenever she said to do it. I thanked her and told her that I could not wait until I never had to say another word to her again. I got full custody of our kids, she did not even get supervised visitation, (I proved beyond any doubt that she was extremely abusive to the kids, be the best record keeper you can be!). Judge still gave her huge piles of money, (250k ish) and made me pay almost 30k in alimony over three years in a non-alimony state but at least the kids and I were away from her. We've been divorced for about 12+ years now and have not uttered a single word to her because it was that bad. Total indifference is freedom folks.

I worked more hours, i did 12hrs a day 7 days a week for nearly 4 years i saved all my money up and used it as a deposit on my house. Here in the UK i didnt have to pay alimony as its not really a thing unless you earn big big money and also her basic pay was higher than mine but i earned more with shift allowance bonus and overtime. I made a better life for myself was more stable and the only thing i regret not doing is going to the gym as i was just not into it after working long hours for so long, i did lose the 6 stone or 38 kg that i gained while being married within 3 years though and thats without going to the gym.

I was asked to be a best man once , and I composed my speech speaking some truths about what love really is . I was met with frowns but several of the people that came up to me later and said “ that was the best Best man speech ever “ and great advice for newly weds . Now a few tid bits of what I said is lets for a second look at what makes a great marriage . I said a great marriage is when your partner drives you so far up that wall , but rather then get all twisted and upset you remember how much you love this person and they are your ride or die , and they do the same when you drive them up wall . You will indeed look back at days of your marriage as resembling the shinning . Bad day happen , but the best thing that 20 years of marriage has taught me is to look away from your anger and look at the love you have for this person . Would you like to guess what common thread all these people had that approached me saying they liked the speech . The common thread was my marriage was the youngest in the list of married people that approached me , all these people had 30 to 50 years under their belts . Old wrinkled people still looking at each other with so much love and tenderness in their eyes . That is what has been lost to this new generation .

Notice how ZERO men post themselves crying over their divorce on the internet? They don't have the damn time. They're out earning a living so they can still support their ex. Coz, you know, that's fair. That simp commenting on that girl leaving her husband and telling her she was brave and it was ALL the man's fault was such a disappointment. I thought he was joking to begin with; when I found out he was sincere, I nearly vomited. And that chick who had a guy run out on the bill? Yeah. Been there, done that several times only I was the one left with the check. Welcome to being the dude, B.
