WOMEN IN MINING

Who we are
Women in Mining (WIM) Ghana, was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee in the year 2015. The main purpose among others is to serve as an advocacy body for all women working in the mining sector (Industry, Academia and Government) by offering training, mentorship, networking and research projects. Thus, WIM incorporates women from upstream to downstream (i.e. whole value chain) in the resources sector.
Our objectives
1.Act as Advocates for women in the extractives sector.
Coordinate the activities of women in mining across the value chain in the country and beyond.
Advocate total participation of the private sector in all aspects of the mining sector.
Promote environmentally sustainable practices and education to protect National natural resource environment.
Promote policies and laws on sustainable mining practices and gender mainstreaming.
Offer mentoring, career guidance and counselling for girls from Junior High School to Tertiary level and also Peer to Peer mentoring and Mentoring of Juniors by Senior Mining Personnel across Companies and In-House.
Interact with Governmental bodies, Non-governmental organisations, Embassies, High Commissions and Development partners to promote women’s programmes within the mining industry.

WIM aspires to be a leading network that promotes the advancement of women in the natural resources sector for their economic empowerment and the positive transformation of communities at local, sub-regional, regional and global levels.

Supporting women’s advancement in the Extractives Sector, through advocacy, training, mentoring and networking at all levels of engagement.
