Edited Excepts from "Women of Malolos" film (Revolution Scene Excerpt) released in 2014 during the 125th anniversary of Jose Rizal's Letter to the Young Women of Malolos. Starring Hazel Faith dela Cruz, Karl Medina, Bong Enriquez, Carlos Celdran.
Women of Malolos Foundation Inc. (WOMFI) through its Basilia committee headed by Ms. Che Che Lazaro, presents a musical docu drama about the outstanding group of women hailed by national heroes Jose P. Rizal and other notable historical figures such as Marcelo H del Pilar, Graciano Lopez Jaena.
The 85 min film (in filipino with English subtitles) was produced and written by Nicanor Tiongson (author of the book Women of Malolos) and directed by Sari and Kiri Dalena. Music by Vincent de Jesus. Sound Mark Lacay. AP Keith Sicat. Line P Hai Balbuena. PD Criselda Dacanay. Costume Design Gino Gonzales.
The film that was funded by the Tantoco-Rustia Foundation of Ambassador Bienvenido Tantoco Sr was made to be shown to high schools and colleges all over the country. It was officially given to Dep-Ed through Secretary Armin A. Luístro of the Department of Education, and Comission on Higher Education chairperson Patricia Licuanan attended and received the film DVDs that was distributed to schools nationwide.
The film stars "Be Careful with My Heart" actress Hazel Faith dela Cruz who plays Basilia Tantoco. Philippine national hero Jose Rizal is played by award-winning young actor Karl Medina, who is the son of respected actor Pen Medina. Cultural activist Carlos Celdran was cast to play Catholic friar Giron in the movie.
