Tieesha Essex sent me from KZbin. She visited this historical site and did a short video of her trip. Thank you for the short documentary.

Damn man they were there but don't get the recognition the other girls get for it. They want their story to be heard as well so someone should sit down with all of them.

They weren’t in Leesburg. They were in Dawson. Only 15 were taken from Dawson and moved to Leesburg. They should tell their own story of what happened in Dawson. It makes no sense to come to Leesburg where they weren’t to try to be apart of a group that they were not in. They were apart of the 33 that were taken but not the 15 in Leesburg. That’s why the name is “Leesburg Stockade Girl” not americus stolen girls. You get what im saying? These ladies in Leesburg pushed their story to be told and the ladies in Dawson should do the same with their own stories. The ladies in Dawson got out after 1 or 2 days being locked up because their folks went and paid $2. The Leesburg girls did not get bailed out.

why would anyone long to be a part of this tragic story if they actually weren’t?? if she said she was there SHE WAS THERE.

She was in Dawson. Not Leesburg. She needs to tell her own story. The 15 ladies who were there, their names are already stamped. Leesburg pushed their story. The Dawson ladies did not and you can tell she wasn’t there because she said their folks paid $2 for them to get out. The leesburg girls weren’t bailed out. She wasn’t there. She needs to tell her own story of her in Dawson.

I say unto these ladies, as I would to someone who served in the military " Thank you for your service". However, most people in the military serve willingly; these young innocent girls were forcibly held against their will. Such a gross miscarriage of justice! They deserve reparations from the state of Georgia. This trauma will be with them forever. I hope after all these years they have found peace and some form of normalcy in their lives. God bless them.❤🙏🏿🙏🏿

Its terrible there's such stories to tell but its the truth, sad truths, but it must be told... gotta inform ALL students! I'd do the same if I were a teacher & even though I'm not I tell these stories when & where I can. Please send my best regards to your aunt & others, I truly wish them well 🙏🏼🫶🏼

And all they received was a plaque.....optics acknowledging that crimes were committed, but no tangible resources to repair the damage. This is why reparations should be paid to the decendents of Slaves in America and for those who were victims of Jim Crow Laws. They are still alive, and their families are still here. Anyone who attended a segregated school should be compensated on the grounds that they were denied equal benefits of education, housing and businesses that THEIR tax dollars should have gone towards.

I am glad this story is being told, but it bothers me that deeply, that it seems the full story is not being told. The way it appears people have been cut out of the history lessens the blow of the full magnitude of the injustice. I am glad this story was told, but it just does not sit well with me. To know what happened to you and to be dismissed is horrible.

They were in Dawson not Leesburg. Instead of them pushing their story of them being locked up in Dawson they are trying to jump on Leesburg. They were not there in that jail.

I know this because my grandmother is a Leesburg stockade girl and was the youngest. The other 14 women will tell you that the Fletcher lady and whoever else were not there with them in Leesburg but they were in Dawson

Great documentary. I feel so sorry for the girl. They were young activists and I thank them for standing up for what was right and for sacrificing their freedom at such a young age. There was and still is so many evil ppl in this world! America has a lot of reaping because they definitely have sowed unthinkable and inhumane things to African Americans.

She wasn’t there though. My grandmother was the youngest in Leesburg (Sandra Mansfield). Tiena Fletcher’s story doesn’t add up with the 15 Leesburg stockade girls because she was in Dawson. She needs to tell her own story. That lady in the background is correct. They want to be involved in something when they weren’t there in that town. They should tell the Dawson side of it.
