The movie's story telling is simple but deep.The cinematography is beyond superb. The landscape captured is Mother Earth like the women of the film. The director showed a very deep respect for the Tausog culture, he just presented it. It is up to the viewers to think and feel. That's what make it a great movie.

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 To be honest, even as a Mindanaoan, I am alien to the Tausug tradition. Surely, growing up I've heard stories of warring clans but it was a distant reality. This movie has given me a glimpse of how a family operates in the grand scheme of things, in the lens of the Tausug. As the movie progressed, I was asking the same questions Hassim asked. But the pace was too slow for me. The story started on the 26th minute for me. Anyway, shout out to all the women in this movie who stood their ground and tried to pave peace when the men (and boys!!!) were seeing red.

The film tackles about Feudal Conflict which is term as RIDO. It highlights what constitutes clan conflict and what are the existing formal and informal mechanisms that people use to resolve these; when does RIDO occur and what kind of issues escalate into RIDO; and lastly how are young people socialize into attitudes about it.

Insider Tidbits: 1.The script was written in English. The actors translated them into the proper Tausug form (hence the authenticity). 2. We had about 24 days of shoots, 18 of it was raining (which presented quite the challenge.) 3. Filmed mostly in the mountains of Zamboanga City, and partly in Jolo. 4. A thank you to the Philippine Army for providing the protection and transportation required during filming, as well as Zambo Ecozone for the accommodations. 5. Technical Details: Shot in 4K/24P on Panasonic Varicam LT @ 4K AVC-Intra 422 (static shots), Sony A7SII @ 4K S-Log (moving shots, Ronin stabilizer), Full Set of Leica Summicron-C Lenses, all courtesy of Outpost Visual Frontier (and their fantastic crew!)

For one who commented he did not understand the story, my advise watch the film again. It is about women trying to make sense of their culture of revenge. Just focus on the women characters. Then take note of the setting which includes the physical background, the river especially. Then try to be like the camera which expands to show the landscape and then close ups to show the emotions of the characters. This may help in appreciating the film. It was not made to entertain but to educate. It is a film, not a movie
