Athing Mu and Keely Hodgkinson are the two most thrilling and charismatic of the new age of track stars. Their rivalry, begun in earnest here, could potentially define women's running to global audiences for the next decade. That they happen to be the same age only adds to the possibility that they might push their event into a golden age. The women's 800 meter World Record is the oldest (and one of the most suspect) in all of athletics, and they could be the first clean (we pray) athletes to surpass it.

Mu is brilliant! She carries on as if it’s a walk in the park. From a distance, her physical form and current age suggest she has the capacity to set new records. If I had the opportunity, I’d strongly advise she does it now. The commentators always find it convenient to trace the history of the Athletes, especially, when they are not representing Britain. When they represent Britain, the commentators are very silent about their trajectory and pretend they have been British forever. Such hypocrisy!

That race is up there with 800 final in Sydney for the men ! I would argue a better race possibly the best ever for half mile men’s or women’s

Well done Keely Hodgkinson. Still improving three years later. Reekie still up there with the best and the new Brit is Phoebe Gill age 17.

I must also add that she's also the USA junior record holder for both the 400m and 800m. I think she should shift to the 400m. She's can try to break the world record.
