Thank you Theo Sowa for spreading light on this important issue surrounding the marginalisation of the voice and expertise of African women in development campaigns. Your comment about a reluctance to ask 'victims' for solutions is well made. Your decision to share the platform and give a place at the virtual table with representations of other women who could not be there on the stage with you was inspirational. Thank you Felicia Darkwa, Giselle Yitamben, Ida Mukuka, Bisis Adeleye-Fayemi, Joanna Foster, Hilda Tadria and all of those working on behalf of our community not for fame or reward but for social justice and African empowerment.

Fabulous presentation.. yes.. absolutely spot on if we are to see progress in Africa we need to address this voicelessness of women... and this is not just an African phenomenon... this applies to women in countries all around the world. Well done Theo.

Do you have a South African branch? I want to connect with women that want to make a difference.

why are you saying that the issue is an "all women"-problem? she focused on African women and that's what the issue was about ...

It is laziness, but also condescending, because marginalized groups are hardly ever seen as key players in owning their own solutions, because these groups must be ''saved'' in this colonial hangover society we live in

Whilst this talk is superb - I wonder whether itwill translate to true change. When we speak to White people about Africa's problems, it feels like we perpetuate the same stereotype we are trying to undo about who we are as African people (victims who need to be seen by the West and rescued by the West). Reading the audience and wondering to what end this connects to them, as it is so far removed from their present day realities and in truth, many might not have a truly vested interest. I prefer these conversations to be Africa-based.
