Women's history interview - Elisa Birnbaum, MD

Great interview! I actually had the opportunity to meet Dr. Birnbaum three times when she was practicing in Saint Louis. The first time was in October 1991, when I drove a friend to and from her office to get a test done. When he walked out into the waiting room, he introduced me to Dr. Birnbaum. As I was driving him home, he said, "Now there is one very fine doctor!". I met Dr. Birnbaum the second time under almost identical circumstances in July 1993. I drove the same friend to her office for a follow up test. The third time that I saw her was in October 2008, when she was one of several speakers at a Saturday Health Fair that I attended. Dr. Birnbaum, along with two of her staff nurses (Rhonda and Michelle) were discussing the importance of screening colonoscopies. At the end of the presentation, I said hello, told her it was a great presentation, and mentioned that we had met many years ago.
