In honor of Women’s History Month, the Columbus Arts Council celebrated women whose talents, voices, and works stand as a reflection of the contributions women have and continue to make in our community and across the globe in the Women's History Month Juried Exhibition. Our goal for this show was to exhibit the individual expressions, styles, passions, and artistic voices of women artists across our region.
Juror, Klaire Lockheart, joined us at the opening reception to give her exhibition statement and her very own KLAIRE talk!
Klaire discussed the vast misrepresentation of women in the world of art. She highlighted three actions we can take to help change that narrative. 1) Women artists… Continue to make art! 2) Support women artists. Go to their shows. Share pictures of their work. Promote the things they are doing. 3) BUY ART FROM WOMEN ARTISTS!
Women are ASTOUNDING! It was an honor to curate and host this exhibition.
