To all those saying Spanovic was robbed, you need to watch a lot of her other jumps. I've been watching quite a few of these videos lately. Spanovic nearly ALWAYS falls backwards costing herself 10-15 cm. Her feet hit the sand and then she just lays down. Her shoulders hit far behind where her heels hit.

Shameful, Spanovic was robbed! There should be an official enquiry, a proper one, not like the 9/11 Commission or that other farce after JFK was assassinated. In previous competitions, her hair made contact with the sand well before her feet but not a word was said. The athletes are forced to wear these stupid labels that flap about in the wind and slow them down - just for the sake of advertising. Punish the advertisers if you must, not the atheletes. Or, better still, look up the definition of sportsmanship!

Second, the technology used to measure the jump can't differentiate between her body and the label so it's programmed to measure the closest contact point to the runway. It really was a simple mistake on her part, but nonetheless a great jump by Spanovic.

@@donovanyoung9996 I disagree! An athlete should never be required to wear anything that can potentially interfere with her performance. She did not bring that from home to wear, they gave that "billboard" to her. Secondly how can she possibly pin something on her own back? Someone else had to do that. She did nothing wrong. They knew that their technology would not be able to differentiate in case the wind blows that stupid placard up. Time to stop blaming the victim! She worked her but off and did not lose because of ability or performance but because of some fluke. I know that girl must have cried a lot off camera. Her country should have appealed or those IAAF people should have been sued.

You're also supposed to secure your label with 4 pins, like all the other athletes did. Spanovic knew these two things already, so she can't go blaming the IAAF when they did THEIR job and held her accountable to a rule that THEY have.

Spanovic got screwed on her last jump a good clean jump with enough distance that should've gotten her in the medal position .I thought the measuring of distance stops where the heels hit the ground if so to me her jump had enough distance. Bartoletta does it again this time she steals Spanovic medal which we knows she's not a thief can I say that for the person measuring distance yes I can only when he says he's blind as a bat finally to those professionals behind the microphones that keeps us informed on all the competitors ,how thoughtful to mention Ms.Reese having a son .It continue to be 5 stars for the stars
