Pen Freitas it`s a tiny but courageous runner. Congrats for her. Regretable for the runner who fall to the track.

Was a world class race all the way. I am surprised though why didn't anyone go after the short girl at the end. Sometimes being short and small is the perfect camouflage.

Kloster needs to learn to be more patient. She shows her cards too early and has nothing left at the end.
@bartolo4986 жыл бұрын
She ist not the most tactically savy runner but in this race she probably didn't mainly run for the win, she wanted to keep a chance at the German record (4:21.59 which she clearly missed) and therefore had to keep an honest pace in the 3rd lap. But she should have let Efraimson do it. The frontrunning certainly cost her some strength and she almost stumbled when the other runner fell on the home straight. In a faster race with a stronger field like in London she will probably get that record next year or so.
@lambd446 жыл бұрын
bios theoretikos She wasn‘t after the Mile. In Germany we usually didn‘t run the mile. She just wanted to proof that she‘s back in shape. And this frontrunning is just the way she run‘s, she likes that front spot
@bartolo4986 жыл бұрын
This is generally true, but in this case she said actually in a comment/interview after the race that she did not expect or really want to take the lead so early in the race. And if the German mile record was not at least a consideration, why offer a mile race at all and not 1500m? There used to be the "ISTAF-Meile" but this was a men's race and has not been run for many years. This was the first time the women ran the mile at this meeting.

What's short? The best distance runners in the world have always been on the short side. El Gurruj is only about 5'9" and 128 pounds.

@@mariqstigler2197 look at the other comments. Other people have said it. People assume a taller person can cover distance quicker than a shorter person. My comment was not meant to be a put down. She ran great and I was impressed. I have heard it all my life. There is average height, above average and short. She is short compared to other runners. Just an observation.

My question is, "When will a woman break the four minute mile?" My biggest dream for my running is to break my 4:58 mile I had in the slow heat at the section 3 meet in 1961. I do plan on breaking the mile run for Mature Master Milers, over seventy years old, in the Hartshorne Master Mile, next January. I hope it will still be held then. I am STEPHEN ETHRIDGE and have MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO in the next 6 or perhaps 10 years. What they are will become apparent VERY SOON! - steve : - ) ) )

The whole race.... the whole blasted race.... I’m feeling sorry for the little one, stating to myself how she doesn’t have a chance because she’s too small and can’t keep up with these giants. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever believe she would even come in third, let alone win!!!!! Awesome display, just awesome!

pro athletes are able to manage low body fat without getting sick better than most people, they will all have dietitians specifically to monitor their weight and body fat levels to get them to an optimal physical condition for racing

No way, lean is the way to go in middle distance, mileage is crucial in their training and muscle is not an advantage.
@jazzyjay45956 жыл бұрын
It's a fine balance between both lean and muscle for middle distance. Odds are, she's doing more weights than longer distance Runners and she's taking plenty of protein. Anyone who's at least sub-elite, we're talking tier 3/4 of pros, those who win prize money at local races who are kinda speedy and might show up in the top 40 at a USATF road championship, are doing plenty of weights and protein. I doubt you know a secret of the sport that her, or her coach, don't know
@jolteon436 жыл бұрын
I wasn't saying they don't do weight training. I'm just saying that mileage is far more important than weights for optimal performance 800m and upwards. I don't see many bodybuilders running a mile.
