The problem with parents or single parents is they want to be specialist in how to raise a child after their child is already gone. You need to do it before. Teach them how to move when they live in areas where danger and death are all around them. You can't tell me none of these women didn't know how it is to live in Philadelphia before they had kids. You can't tell me none of these women never knew someone who has been shot or killed in their city. Its called parenting for a reason. You need to be one. Educate yourself on how to raise a child safely. Sit your kids down and have those uncomfortable conversations. Make them understand the risks of being in high crime neighborhoods. In order to do that though you must put in the work to understand what is important to talk to your kids about. You can't just tell them be safe or be back by 9 pm when they leave the house. This isn't nearly good enough. They need to have hard life lessons hammered into their psyche so they make better life choices. Alternatively you could move to a safer neighborhood or find ways to send your kids to better environments so they don't get caught up in the hidden dangers of street life.
