After unbuckling his seat belt and climbing the embankment, heroic George could tell his toes were cold and he was already breathing heavy. By the time he jumped into the warm car, 2 minutes chilly has passed. As Caleb was passed out, dying in the water, George wrapped several blankets around himself asking for a big cup of hot chocolate. It was really scary. His dear friend was starting to suffer brain damage from being unconsious for so long and at the same time, heroic George had tears rolling down his face, as he thought about how dificult it would be to play video games with such cold hands. He would have told the 2 men that his friends was dying in the car, and would have even led them to the accident site but his teeth was chattering so he instead he asked one of them for a warm jacket. In saving his own skin with such panicked desperation from being uncomfortably cold, Geroge showed himself to be a true friend.

There’s no way he woulda been able to get him out if he went back in unless he got him out while still in the car cause he was still in the car with him cause he was still seat belted in. Either way he didn’t know, I woulda took that chance. I woulda dragged him out with me or still got back in. People don’t usually survive that long under. In 1999 they didn’t know that rescue breathing isn’t required. First you need to get his heart beating. That rattle noise was probably the death rattle.

Yep. I thought the same thing. But, this is how they are trained . To go after those organs. Not only prematurely but of the 11 connectors in the brain they only check 4 of them before labeling them braindead. Imagine if his parents had taken that advice and been willing to donate. They would have pulled that machine and in fast fashion have him on the table taking those organs with no anesthesia of any kind. A little known fact to most people.

I'm so very pleased for this young fellow and his parents. Here is another example the adaptation of our body's ability to somewhat 'hibernate' or slow its functioning in extreme cold. The rest is down to being rescued in a timely manner and of course, and not the least, medical intervention. I do not want to downplay how pleased I am for this family but no miracles here. The boy that managed to, in dreadful circumstances, manage to fight the cold to find help, deserves accolades. What a fighter.

I'm so glad when I started screaming Chest Compressions Chest Compressions Chest Compressions! The two men did exactly that...In so many ways good on those guys, amazing..real deal Angels and life saving heroes all around. Impressed also by how George (though filled with adrenaline) never lost concern for his poor friend Caleb despite his own incredible plight and I think that is super sweet and amazing to see💪🏽👼🏽

While seat-belt could save lives in certain situations, this isn't one of those....in fact one could argue that the sit-belt was a death trap in this situation.... it's usually very difficult to unbuckle the seat-belt when ur car is overturned. The mechanism should be redesigned.

Ummm...... The car rolled like 8-10 times. Without the seatbelt they most likely would have been dead before they hit the water.

Vix 30 or people could just buy them themselves. Not that it would have mattered. The issue was, hand numbness from the cold made unbuckling difficult, so gripping a small knife and cutting, or trying to work a window breaker would have been equally difficult.

could've saved body parts from rolling around when they were rolling around!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they could've smashed their head in the window!!! etc etc everyone just has to carry a seatbelt cutter/scissor

I'M ALWAYS AMAZED AT THE IDEA OF BRAIN DEAD WHEN SOMEONE WAS SUBMERSED IN FREEZING WATER CAUSE I HEAR ABOUT THESE CASES A LOT AND THEY RECOVER. I'M SO GLAD PEOPLE WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS INSTEAD OF ENDING LIFE SUPPORT. IT DOESN'T HURT TO WAIT AND SEE SO PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP ON YOUR LOVED ONE. THANK GOODNESS THEY BOTH SURVIVED AND THE PEOPLE WHO HELPED ARE AMAZING

So many heroes in this episode. If it wasn't for the young lad finding help. the lady who stopped to help and saved his life, the men who turned around and then blindly went to find him, the EMT, the doctors and nurses and the parents who never gave up. I am not crying.
