Flying a C-46 makes great pilots ,all hand flown and lots of decision making. These guys will be some of the best airline pilots no doubt
@Cramblit2 жыл бұрын
I've always wanted to fly a C-46. I'm considering getting my pilots license, and I know pilots just aren't up to snuff like they used to be back in the day, with everything being automated, or learning to fly on planes that practically fly themselves like the Cessna's. I figured flying a plane like the C-46 for a few years would get me a lot of technical, and mechanical knowledge that would make me a great pilot.

Having multiple type ratings, years as a captain and a Gold Seal CFI, Devin has no business being in the left seat. A calm demeanor is absolutely necessary, and constructive tone is essential. I’ve been watching this show for years, and flying trips with guys like him used to make me hate my job.
@Softail77us2 жыл бұрын
Because he's not calm.. or level headed?
@TheEmeraldMenOfficial2 жыл бұрын
@@Softail77us Yep. Remember the old saying. There are old pilots, there are bold pilots, but there are no old bold pilots. Cocky crews have caused more crashes than you can think of. For example, Delta 1141, where the crew blatantly ignored the sterile cockpit protocol, or an Air Canada flight (forget the number) where the crew made a bet on who could land the plane the latest. Or Avianca 52, where the crew brazenly ignored the severity of their fuel situation.
@Softail77us2 жыл бұрын
@@TheEmeraldMenOfficial He hated teaching. I've had to learn from guys like him (in a different field) and it was awful cause the slightest question to what he was saying caused him to get more impatient and that made it harder yet to learn..

I'm sure if I flew them C46s I'd be stressed out my head, Devin is snappy because there is no room for error on that machine and he handles every emergency on them 46s like a pro, it's for Larry's own good it will make him a better pilot like the chap a bit slow to be co pilot of that 46

Devon needs CRM training... actually Larry does too. The demonstrated power gradient in this cockpit was very unhealthy, potentially dangerous if not potentially catastrophic.

It was nice not having Joe shooting off his mouth during this episode. You can fly over or around smoke. They needed to ask for clearance to fly over it before they got into it. Pilots can ask if they can deviate from their flight plan. I'm guessing they flew through the smoke for visual effect.

They do not say what was wrong with the #2. A friend was on flying sates on C47s. Coming back from Prestwick they had a #1 do that for a few seconds oil pressure flickered then dropped to zero as the prop with nose dome departed. Sometimes they do not warn you at all.

Gonna be honest, I clicked this because I saw a Newfoundland water bomber and I was wondering what the heck one of our water bombers was doing in a show filmed across the country from us. Seems like it was a stock image, which is even crazier to me since NOBODY ever seems to even notice Newfoundland unless they’re going to see Come From Away or lived here at some point.

Because Devon got his jollies destroying that young co pilots confidence, he completely corrupted the mood and airmanship on that flight deck. The captains arrogance and immaturity jeopardised the safety of the entire crew, plane and cargo on that flight. It takes much more than the ability of flying an air plane to being a captain or any crewman in the cockpit.
