So glad to see someone talking about this amazing vn. Had pretty much the same experience playing ddlc and wanting something similar before finding out about this. It's my favourite piece of media by a long way, it made me start reading more, it got me interested in philosophy, it disgusted me, it made me cry, it fucked with my head, it slowly brought me out of a long depression. It's hard to recommend or discuss wonderful everyday because of the content its self and doing so might ruin the experience of going through the experience for people who've never played it. But it's brilliant. Live happily.

I feel like to elaborate on what the patch “is”: The game will not progress beyond a clean version of chapter 1 (the prologue before the plot takes off) without the patch. The remaining FIVE chapters are hidden behind the patch (and yes there is a reason for that.)
@psychoshotz6075 жыл бұрын
Just to clarify, will this patch include all 18+ content uncensored. Because from what I remember steam is kinda restrictive on that.

didn't watch the video so not sure what he said. Just came to read the comments. I finished the VN about a month ago and I went in totally blind. Didn't expect how f*cked up it was especially in chapter 3. I have played quite a few VNs & SubaHibi is definitely the most f*cked up one I read. Just be prepared XD
@TheZalor5 жыл бұрын
People say Subahibi has fucked up content, but I remember thinking it was relatively tame. But thats probably because I was coming off of Sayonara wo Oshiete, the god of denpa/psychological horror VNs. Regardless, Subahibi is also one of my absolute favorite VNs, glad you also like it!
@UquiorraSama3 жыл бұрын
Nah, it is rather tame tbh The only fucked up part was Zakuro's chapter
@GeorgAnkar3 жыл бұрын
Is Sayonara wo Oshiete even more fucked up? That's pretty interesting to hear xD
@nailwind3 жыл бұрын
I'm still bummed out by the fact you have to learn an entire language just to read Sayonara wo Oshiete(Sayooshi) as it'll probably not be translated for another 20 years. By the time it's ever out you'd have become fluent enough to read it in Japanese lmao fucking hell
@GeorgAnkar3 жыл бұрын
@@nailwind Well, in the case of Sayooshi you can learn another, much easier language to read that novel - Spanish:) It was translated to Spanish by the end of last year.

@@GeorgAnkar Sayooshi/Sayonara wo Oshiete is on a level of mind fuckery beyond Subahibi's, that much I can confidently say. Its also plenty disturbing, I mean- right at the start of the game some pretty intense shit happens so...yeah. That said, its a deeply engrossing, philosophical find with a satisfying, cathartic end. The ending where you figure out how the puzzle pieces line up is mindblowing.

"Show that you're alive if you're still here" lmao. But yeah man, I finished this a few weeks back. Absolutely lovely (holistically speaking; all dark stuff included). I was hooked on this pretty much every night. The first chapter took a bit to stick with but I'm so glad I did. This was phenomenal. I came to it cuz I was finished with DDLC and I wanted more similar themed VNs. I'm glad I found this. I had such a newfound appreciation and understanding toward trauma and suicide victims. I felt exactly like some of the main characters did at one point and while, yes, it was completely horrifying at certain points and I cried; it was also equally very well written and such a meaningful novel. Yuki is such a fantastic character lmao, deffo best girl. I agree with you in particular about the certain 'young girl' scene, I was a bit like "erhh.. Dunno about this..." I just kinda think maybe they coulda done without that. Perhaps there was other ways this idea could've been addressed. Regardless, I'll be doing a discussion about this soon. I'd love to have you join me for a little chat about it if you're down. Otherwise, no jumping off rooftops pls - you will not respawn.

I'm glad you agreed with so many of my points! I would genuinely enjoy discussing this game, but since it has been quite a while since I last played it (and I did read multiple Visual Novels in the meantime), I would definitely need to replay the whole thing to refresh my memories. Sadly, given university and being busy in general, that isn't really possible at the moment - thanks for the offer though!

My experience with Subahibi was something like this. Episode 1: What a boring “and it was all a dream” setup. Episode 2: This one retroactively makes episode 1 better, because this is EXACTLY the kind of person who would have that dream. Also the horror is fun. Episode 3: I think I’m gonna be sick. Also I wish this wasn’t a porn game. This would be genuinely a better story if the porn was massively cut back.
@psyb0rgz4472 жыл бұрын
I agree. The game gets so much hate now majorly due to those unnecessary porn scenes. Like I bought the game thinking it was just gore and psychological horror only to be bombarded with 15 minute sex scenes
@Zzydeph2 жыл бұрын
Its whole nature of being an eroge is what mostly ruined it for me, since even beyond the h-scenes it drastically affects the characterization. The horniness is so goddamn excessive and especially during the SoL/"comedic"* moments the dialogue is the most juvenile and cringy I've ever seen, which is impressive because I've read Danganronpa. *comedic in quotes because it's not funny Also I genuinely don't understand why the creator of this video or some other fans of this vn claim that the sexual scenes "are not meant to please you". Like, who told you that? None of the scenes in this vn differ from the presentation of your typical h-scene, hell there's even _an in-game gallery dedicated to these exact scenes!_ People are seriously underestimating the human mind if they think "well, it's _dark_ so it cannot be pornographic!"
@reisen95842 жыл бұрын
Just play the less hardcore ver on steam? I think they cut a lot of shi* stuff. Although I dont play steam ver, so dunno. I personally love all the scene, but definately this is not the type of game for ppl who play only casual and not sitting there for 50+ hours.

i didn't find it that disturbing outside of the bullying. i really don't like that amazing game that evolves right in front of your eyes as you read; i found myself revising my theories/reading as i read every chapter. really neat utilization of the VN medium and while the twist can be called fairly early, the journey is a banger. and while it's a very interesting story, i think the fixation on "properly" interpreting the plot (esp wrt Wittgenstein) is overdone. it's the themes that stuck with me along with a very simple core message (which happens to be from Wittgenstein): 「幸福に生きよ!」.

@@AZ-pr3ne why is the philosophy trash? Also out of that list I have only read Berserk and I can say that overall I would probably consider Subahibi a better work of fiction because of its thought provoking complexity and presentation. But honestly a hard comparison to make since both are very different stories. Although I consider other VNs better like Umineko/Higurashi/Muramasa/White Album 2 etc

@@AZ-pr3ne recently finished Monster too. Johan is a goated antagonist(Though Grimmer clears). Overall though I would still say Subahibi>Monster and Takuji>Johan as an antagonist.

@@AZ-pr3ne I didn't understand some of what you said because it's worded pretty badly but I will respond to what I understood. Most philosophical ideas when stripped down to their basic level are corny as fuck. It's about how they are implemented, and Subahibi implements it's philosophy in an excellent way. Heck even philosophies of works like Monster and Berserk are just as corny. "You were born into this world because you were wanted", "keep struggling through life". They aren't any better than "live happily". Also its positive nihilism which is based. So I really don't understand your criticism at all.

You left out how insufferable the 17,000 lines that make up It’s my Invention is. It rambles on for forever repeating the same few points over and over and over and over and over. I have nothing against making the protagonist of that chapter a scumbag, but when I spend one hour and all that’s happened is that he rambles on about some irrelevant mythology, that’s a problem. The pacing was a lot better in the chapters past it though and the alternate route for Looking Glass Insects is hype as fuck.

I honestly loved It’s My Own Invention. It definitely had some bumps, but it might be my favorite chapter. Getting to really delve into Takuji’s decaying mental stability and delusions was fascinating, and it has some of my favorite psychological horror moments in the vn. Very much “weird fiction” vibes. That being said, I DEFINITELY understand why some people don’t like it, especially for its length.
