Beautiful Song, Catholics and all Christians must realize and appreciate that when a Catholic Priest calls the Holy Spirit upon the Bread & Wine it in fact becomes Jesus!-body, blood, soul & divinity!!! Thank God for the Catholic Church!

I kind of see it both ways. I agree with you that we should be humble and never be self-sufficient. But I also believe that we are not poor in the Spirit and poor in blessings because God is with us.

@MenechemShaul There are actually two sacraments, and they are NOT meaningless. Baptism signifies the cleansing of sin, and the coming of the Holy Spirit. The Lord's Supper signifies our communion with Christ and looks forward to the feast we will share with HIM in heaven. Both of them ARE means of grace - not salvation - and both are clearly instituted in the Bible.

@reginaDexant Yes, Matt Maher is a Roman Catholic, and yes, the Roman Catholic church is wrong about many things.... including their view of the sacraments. But I don't see why Protestant would disagree with the lyrics here. There are 2 sacraments - Baptism and the Lord's Supper. We are fed by Christ in the LS.... spiritually, of course. And I am often encouraged in my faith by fellowship with other believers. What's the problem with the lyrics?

@MenechemShaul Wow, it sure does seem as if you do know a lot of things. Be careful that all that knowledge doesn't puff you up.... I'm sure you know the meaning of the word "sacrament".... could you tell me, please. Is there anything in the Bible that is referred to as a sign and seal of something else? I'm sure if Matt were to sing about the Trinity, we could not find this is in the Bible. If Muslims say "God is great" does that necessarily mean that the statement is wrong?

@MenechemShaul Huh? I am well aware of what the Roman Catholic Church teaches. But it is wrong. The Bible only has warrant for the two sacraments. Grace was done on the cross? Actually, Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for sins. You can be saved by grace, which is defined as unconditional favor. Do yourself a favor and Study Ephesians 2, etc...

It says that "I was poor" i kinda don't agree with that because we should always be poor or else if we think we have enough then we would be foolish and we won't take anymore of the Lord.... and it's a good song and hopefully we will all become overcomers before the end of times.

That's actually not true. Catholics don't worship saints and never have. We ask them for their intercession for them to pray for us, we look up to their example to living a life in Christ's example, but we DO NOT worship them. And for the record, "Christianity" refers to ALL faiths that believe in Christ, hence,your second statement actually includes Catholics too. Hope that cleared that up.

"See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human inventions... rather than on Christ."(Col. 2:8) He also told his followers: “No one comes to the Father but 'through'” For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (I and the Father are One), who gave Himself as a ransom for all-the testimony that was given at just the right time.…Hebrews 9:15 Therefore Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, now that He has died to redeem them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant. Hebrews 12:24 to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel

@TheOpenminded12460 and most of the old testament is historical and artistic. This is why Jesus Christ came into the world, to clean the sin from the world creating a new covenant with humankind. Jesus was the New Adam, pure from sin. and gave the ultimate price for all of us. yes, you too. :-) "For God so loved the world, that he sent his only Son..."

@TheOpenminded12460 Isiah 13:15-16 is part of something an oracle said. there is no condoning the actions... Numbers 31:17-18 Put it into context. Women were treated like objects back then, a sad truth, not condoning any of the actions taking place, just recounting that it happened. Mankind (especially in those times) should never be thought of a perfect. etc... READ THE WHOLE STORY AND PUT IT INTO CONTEXT. (caps for emphasis)

Great Catholic song! Love the Eucharist reference? And dear all catholic haters on here please STOP ok if you don't believe in the lyrics no one is forcing you to listen or comment. Also Matt Maher IS catholic AND has a great respect for other Christian denominations (he attends a Methodist service with his wife AND a Catholic Mass every sunday) why can't you return the favor to him?
@sponsler6 жыл бұрын
No, there is no reference to the 'eucharist' at least not as the 'so -called' catholics understand it. It depends on how one defines 'sacrament' as well. Sadly, the catholic invention redefines what words means..they have an entire new system on de-struction based on misconstrued spiritual principles that have been ordained by common men that resulted in a counterfeit christianity. It does not mean however, that there are some there that are any 'less' Christian (which is an impoissbility) than there are in other churches that are not of that persuasion. There will be a remnant it appears from all of the systems man has invented , esp. to those who have remained Faithful to His Name alone and not to 'things' that will perish and cease to exist in Eternity. If it's not of Eternal Value NOW..it won't be later. What value is man made wafer the comes out of man made factory by workers who might not even be believers? What value is it for someone to drink a sip of wine for others which is exactly what did not occur in the Upper Room? If the Pope is His Holiness who is the Dali lama who is also His Holiness? It's so ridiculous. Let us from all persuasion become One Body in Christ...and tear down all strongholds that attempt to get people to come to Know Him as He is (!).bible.org/seriespage/lesson-16-true-versus-counterfeit-christianity-philippians-31-3

google: does catholics worship saints or jesus? You would see plenty of evidence that catholics honored saints like the Virgin Mary and not Jesus. Watch this link: /watch?v=TPRTOejZWfU Take care! God bless!

Koulla Theoharous This is a common misunderstanding of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church teaches us to worship GOD The Father, Jesus His son, & the Holy Spirit. The saints are to be respected and honored. But never worshiped. The song is beautiful. Thanks, Matt, your music touches my heart.

This is a Catholic song with unscriptural lyrics. I hate to say that but there are no sacraments to win points with God, only by the blood of Jesus and that is not on the alter of some idol ridden "church". What tipped me off sacrament and community. I agree God is WONDERFUL, He is also just and demands perfection that can only be imputed to us by the perfect sacrifice delivered once for all who are in Christ by faith through grace and that not of yourselves it is a gift of God lest any boast.
