Very nice! It seems that a lot of people are returning to more of a traditional pocket knife these days.

Interests are cyclical, and people are always looking for new things. I, for one, have a newfound interest in the traditional knives and have acquired quite a few recently. Look out for them!

That is an excellent example of a well built stockman knife. The Buck 371 is a great everyday carry pocket knife. The fit and finish is usually good. The blades are sharp with an extremely good heat treatment. The ones that I have purchased cut every time I need them to. The legendary Buck family backs every knife with a Forever Warranty. Thanks for your review.

I bought a Buck 301 Stockman in 1971 for $12.50 and it has been a very good knife all these years. I have the Buck Stockman smaller version from tthe USA and one from China. At first I was disappointed that one was from China but I talked to one of the Buck owners and he told me thhey only went to china because of the labor prices and because he wanted to put Buck's in the big box stores. He also said tthey were moving back to the USA. I must say the Buck made in China is an excelant knife.

Great vid and thank you for reviewing one of the greatest patterns. I find it very practical to have one of the smaller multitools of victorinox, gerber or leatherman paired with a practical size traditional knife. I have the medium stockman of buck for about more than 15 years ago and just ages beautifully. I also have other brands of stockmans and trappers and all they are just the best counterparts of modern multitools

I have both the 371 and the 301 I find the fit and finish to be equal on both the 371 however has stronger back springs, Buck did not go to 420j2 until 2009 my 371 is a 2005 so it has 420hc blades

Nice review of an excellent knife, of course not everyone will agree. But as an owner of the Buck 371 Stockman, I have no complaints nor criticisms whatsoever.

The stockman is one of my favorite patterns. I keep a Rough Ryder stockman on a stand next to my sofa as a letter opener. Its like having three knives in one. A good chose for edc if the blades are sharp and good quality. If you want have multuple style of blade shapes. If i was to carry a traditional folder aside from a Victorinox, I would carry a Stockman or a camp knife, preferably a Case, Boker, or Great Eastern Cutlery.

Thanks for watching and sharing. I have a bunch of different Stockmans coming in over the weeks. Will be interesting to compare the different builds. The Buck's fit and finish is really good!

In early stages of my carving shillaglah fighting stick and carving spoons I used same knife but blades started to wobble side ways so I now only collect barlow knives invented in Sheffield uk around 1600 I also own a walnut scales swiss army knife with exellent saw on for carving mine came directly from Switzerland bolster on your knife is nickel silver blade steel is 420 im not fan of i go no lower than 440 best edge retention 👍🇬🇧🐾🦊

Nice! I'm looking at a few Barlows too. To be fair, the Buck heat treat for their 420HC is superior than most!

@@urbanknifeguy yes but swiss army knives has it more perfectly especially as they use low budget steels but heat treatment makes them exellent I recommend highly schrade barlow and rough rider barlows 👍🇬🇧🐾🦊

Shame Buck is making their knives in China.
@urbanknifeguy8 ай бұрын
Not all. I think maybe a third is made in China. The majority is still made in the USA.
