Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a side-scrolling platform game released worldwide for the Nintendo Switch on October 20, 2023. First announced during the June 2023 Nintendo Direct, it is the twenty-second installment in the Super Mario series and the first new full-fledged 2D Super Mario game since New Super Mario Bros. U released almost 11 years prior. It is also the first game to feature Kevin Afghani as the voice of Mario and Luigi, succeeding Charles Martinet, as well as the first game in the Super Mario franchise as a whole to be released since the initial release of Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope exactly one year prior.

Kinda feels like each verse of the chorus is Mario singing to a different character: "So let's go to this Wonderful World, there's many sights to see" (Daisy) "There's a lot of things that we can learn, let's make some discoveries" (Toadette) "And if you're afraid or if you're concerned, know that there's no reason to be" (Luigi) "Just take my hand because you deserve, to see this land's glory" (Peach) "So just ride with me" (Yoshi) Daisy is the newcomer of the group, so she is the one who gets the initial proposal; she gets excited easily, so the thought of new sights would be especially appealing to her. Toadette is the Archivist/Explorer of the group (see Treasure Tracker + Odyssey's Archivist Toadette), so learning and exploring is what she wants. Luigi is the most cautious of the group, if anyone's concerned it's him. Peach made a big deal about wanting to travel and see the world in Odyssey- considering she frequently gets to travel, but rarely on her own terms. So if anyone "deserves" to see it, it's her. And if there's one person she trusts to show her the world, it's Mario. Yoshi likes to ride along.
