There is a law that even if you own land connected to any body of water you have to maintain it for ppl to pass through. Not camping, but you have to give acces. But if you ask politely you will not only be given permission to stay, but there is high probability that by morning you will know family history 5 generations back and being invited for a chow and parents trying to give her daughter to you encouraging you both to get along. That's how i've met my wife. When i was young i've sailed on Mazury without a dime. It was fckn amazing time before it became so commercial.

I live in Sopot. All beaches in Poland are for free. Actually it is illegal to block access to sea shore or a lake shore (unless a lake is in the middle of ONE privately owned land). The same goes with woods or river banks. We are pretty serious with public access to nature. You’ll have to pay for an umbrella that belongs to a nearby hotel if you want to use it and restaurants are allowed to have small parts of the beach for their customers of course. But it’s never too excessive. And those pictures of Sopot are very misleading. The town in packed with people in the summer season. I am enjoying my town right now as the tourist are finally gone. 🥳

25:30 They lost such an opportunity to talk at least a bit more about the "Panorama Racławicka" painting because it's a HUGE painting that is circular and forms an entire panorama around the visitors. The visitors walk along the painting in a full circle, while the painting itself is "extended" with real soil and props so that you can actually feel as if being a part of the painting (the whole round-shaped building in the shot is where the painting is). It's simply amazing.

The architecture in Gdansk has similarities with all the Hanseatic cities, located near Baltic and North seas, and built from sandstone or red bricks. (Lubeck and Kiel, in Germany, Riga in Latvia, Tallinn in Estonia, etc...). They were important trading places, so they have large market squares, huge city halls and cathedrals, and walls, to protect from attacks... The strange black tower near the Gdansk canal, is a masting tower : a kind of crane, made to mast the ships, and un/load long cargo pieces. Lech Walesa, peace nobel prize recipient, who founded Solidarnosc in 1979, a workers syndicate against communism, used to work as an electrician, in Gdansk shipyard. "Fun fact" : Walesa worked on the construction of a 80 m long highsea fishingboat, that is still on service for SAINT MALO Fishery, in Brittany, since 1980 !
