Lily cove might be my favorite city. I love the idea of living close to the beach, but also close to nature. This is also the city that keeps Pokemon Contests in all Hoenn games. Oh, if we ever get a Hoenn Legends game, maybe we’ll see how they came to be!

Slateport is my favorite. Has a port, a museum, open air market, beach with a soda shop, Contest Hall, Pokemon fan club. Lilly Cove is second though.

I'd like to take this moment to highlight how absolutely gigantic Groudon is and how that never gets acknowledged because of its height listed in the Pokédex. Using the 3D Pokédex, it becomes clear that the listed height is Groudon's sole to head height in its hunched over posture. Using the Pythagorean Theorum, one can estimate that Groudon is a whopping 24'03", which is even longer than Rayquaza and not far behind Onix. Primal Groudon is bigger still, at a staggering 36'09". That is longer than Steelix, Primal Kyogre, Mega Steelix, Mega Rayquaza (which is really just Rayquaza with a crimson chin and streamers hanging off its body), and Alolan Exeggutor. Literally only Dondozo, Wailord, and Eternatus are longer than Primal Groudon. Let that sink in. For a time, Primal Groudon was the second-longest of all known Pokémon, behind only Wailord.

Sootopolis is so interesting to me cause I'm not sure how it works in universe. The only way people get out is through diving under the water or flying out of what's basically a giant dome. Both methods feel wildly inconvenient. You're basically required to own a Surfer/Diver or Flyer to get out. Also, long rainstorms sound like a nightmare considering it's basically a massive dome. I don't know why anyone would want to actually live here.

My headcanon is that they have a public transportation system that involves submarines. We just don't see it because of gameplay and story segragation.

I love how wholesome it is to learn the berry girl in Sootopolis is named after one of the lead developers newly born (at the time) daughter. Just a nice bit of trivia.

I saw a thread online some time ago about how Hoenn has a lot of iconic grass-types that it's a shame that Emerald didn't take the chance to introduce a grass- gym leader. So here's my fantasy version of Emerald with a grass gym leader in mind: In Hoenn, all the gyms' types are related to the location. So that should be a factor on where the grass gym should be. I think Foretree City would be the best choice. A city where people live on trees can both represent flying- and grass-types. The gym leader's ace would probably be Tropius as it is a rare pokémon around those parts. Winona would probably have to relocate to Sootopolis instead. She is a flying-type expert so it would be cool if it's her who gives you the lore dump about Rayquaza. Also, making her the final gym leader will surely make her Altaria a lot scarier than it already is. Wallace could still be champion and Steven could still go look for rocks in Meteor Falls. But what about Juan? Maybe Juan could be the NPC that introduces you to Pokémon Contests, the same role Lisia has in ORAS. And maybe Juan could also take Scott's place in the story, the guy who scouts for strong trainers to challenge the Battle Frontier.

the most mysterious part of sootopolis is still that doorway that is blocked by the potted plant, even though I have heard the explanation for it now. Surprised it wasn't mentioned, is it only in emerald??

Sootopolis will always have meaning for me as I chose it for my first Shiny hunt. In Ruby version, surfing finds nothing but Magikarp, so I got back my lost Red Gyarados. X3

People dog on Groudon for picking a fight on this tiny piece of land but in the context of the story, these 2 are being portrayed on equal footing, meaning that Groudon only needs one tile of the earth to stand on to go toe to toe with Kyogre. If anything, Kyogre looks more pathetic here.

3:53 there’s a pretty funny comic strip depicting this. Groudon is trying to hype itself up and taunting Kyogre, while Kyogre is pointing out the obvious disadvantage. The comic even got a part two after ORAS came out with a hilarious bit about the Primal Reversion abilities.

I think they probably would of build another way to access Sootopolis City other then the water, maybe climate change could dry up some of the water maybe
