The Wondros Podcast

Күн бұрын

Jim Keltner, legendary session drummer shares stories about what it was like to record some of the greatest songs of all time and explains how to stay cool when performing alongside legends.
He observed both Bob Dylan and John Lennon had something odd in common and wonders if it may have been a key to their genius.
In his storied career Keltner also played with George Harrison, Neil Young, Simon & Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, The Rolling Stones, Gillian Welch, Pink Floyd, Fiona Apple, Roy Orbison, Steely Dan, Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams, Carly Simon, Barbra Streisand, Eric Clapton, and The Ramones.
The Wondros Podcast is about continual learning, lifelong education, and the amalgamation of humanities, science and technology. We’re working to create an education archive, a reference library for the insatiably curious, and for people who share our passion for self-improvement in an age where exciting new ideas are available with the click of a button.
Emmy award-winning interdisciplinary filmmakers, Jesse Dylan and Priscilla Cohen, are strategic creatives and storytellers for social change. They translate complex ideas in science and technology, public health and education into compelling narratives that inspire people to take action.

It really feels like they were only interested in getting him to drop the big names and didn’t care about Jim’s view. “Tell us about John.” “What was Eric like?”. “Where did you first meet Neil?” “Do you know any other famous people you can tell us about?” This man has had a very unique and interesting life. I’d like to know more about Jim.

Only thing I would add is I think Jim was often on a train of thought that could have developed into something even more interesting and gone even deeper but at times he was interrupted mid-thought by a question and I think at times it affected the flow of what all in all was still a very interesting conversation. Just a thought. But I very much enjoyed this.

@@provocase Hereʻs another dud for you: there this organization, Nashville's Musicians Hall of Fame (they have a channel here). I think that they do a better job at installing musicians, but their interviewer is not prepared, and he rushes the questions, which ruins the interview.

Jim is having a LEGENDARY career and this guy interrupts and spends entirely too much time on John Lennon. the interviewer needs to prep for pete's sake. a largely wasted opportunity. CREDIT to Jim Keltner for making it interesting

@@sspbrazil hi Scott, i know and i hear you. Keltner has had such a long and storied career. i wanted to hear about Levon Helm, Jeff Lynne, Neil Young , Tom Petty , Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton, Bill Frisell...to name a few. You know? And another point was the interviewer didnt even do his research to ask poingant questions. The Interviewer thought er played on Double Fantasy . This was a missed opportunity to have a great deep dive interviwer with a legend who doesnt do alot of press.

@@sspbrazil I know and I hear you Scott. And yet Keltner's career is so long and prodigious that I wanted hear about playing with Clapton, Hiatt, Bruce, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, Frisell among others. This was a miss to do deep dive with a legend and im talking about Keltner and what we got was an interviewer who didnt do his research and thought Keltner played on Double Fantasy . As corrected Andy New mark did as Alan White from Yes was a mainstay in the Plastic Ono band. A lack of journalistic tact and prep would get a interviewer fired from any other news outlet. How did this guy get this interview by the way.
