Wong Kar-wai’s new TV series draws Shanghai tourism

Several old spots in Shanghai are experiencing a revival since the release of the first television series by Hong Kong film director Wong Kar-wai. Blossoms Shanghai, which began airing on December 27, 2023, has led to fans and tourists flocking to Huanghe Road, where a major scene featured in the show is located. A temporary traffic light has since been installed to better control the flow of crowds and vehicles that have come to visit iconic scenes from the show.

I remember Shanghai in the 90s. Yes, it was so dynamic, bursting with optimism and a desire to live life to the fullest. It was like every day presented new opportunities to reinvent yourself. But it was also much less developed than now. There were still slums in many parts of the city, two girls I knew literally grew up in a shack by the side of my street. They didn't even have running water. But it was also the beginning of Shanghai's wild nightlife, with a few pretty trendy clubs, mostly on South Maoming Rd. Nobody ate hotpot (火锅), or malatang (麻辣烫), or ganguo (干锅). There were no Starbuck's, no Burger King, no XinTianDi, no pedestrian street on Nanjing Rd. But it was a wild time!

That was so long ago. China's rapid development is insane that you can find so many things discovered and many new places opened in just weeks, but months later some those places close and new one replace. It's like an everchanging cities.

I am surprised by this. I thought shanghai was always in style. In my opinion shanghai is one of the most iconic chinese cities. I want to go there and visit.

Many Hindi-dubbed Chinese movies with millions of viewers, they're not even famous movies. Chinese drama, ten of millions Indian viewer. Worldwide, most famous Asian actors are Chinese like Jackie Chan. Nobody knows Indian actor.
