Hello peanut gallery! I made my very first mosaic quilt block! I like the way it came out, but I've already figured out a much easier way to do it with strip sets and string piecing! I will be showing that next and maybe I'll use the white grout so we can see how that looks. Hang in there because I have many more mosaic blocks on the way! Do love this new series!

Cuteness! I was given a large variety of jeweled toned fabrics from a friends stash who passed away recently from breast cancer. Her quilt work was UH-mazing so I feel priveledged to have this fabric. Your mosaic blocks will be the PERFECT project for this fabric

Darlene, so much fun watching your videos. You make bravery and giggling a great part of what is most often a structured and exacting craft - it's completely serendipity creativity! I'm in the middle of several partly done quilts (as usual) but now I'm abandoning them for yet another....I am completely stoked that I don't have to steel myself into finally letting go of my basket full of all those ridiculously teeny pieces of fabric, lol. Darn that i have to work for a living! Can I ask: what do you use to show all your 'possible' quilt designs? And can I afford it? I'm sure looking forward to your next adventure, have a really pretty day! Abigail, in beautiful NH.

Hi Darlene! I am not a quilter but I have to tell you that I love love love the look of this one probably more than any quilt I've seen. I love your hot alerts. I am hot all the time and I have my fan on for every season. I think my thermostat is broken but I need air........and when my hubby gets cold I tell him to get a blanket. Also, with a big change of conversation, could you believe how upset Jason was when Christmas sent him out?? I felt so bad for him. Then when Alex won the HOH I thought for sure she'd automatically put up Christmas at least.........but NO!!! Her move was so stupid and then when Paul was calling out Josh, I wanted to crawl into the TV and smack him a good one. Even if he makes it to the end, I don't think he'll get the votes but we shall see. Cannot wait for the celebrity one this winter.........more Big Brother!!!!!!

Mortar is used to hold the mosaic tiles (aka tesserae) down to the surface in which you are creating your artwork and grout is used to fill between the tiles when the mortar is set. You've been correct in calling it grout this whole time, Darlene. I can't imagine what word you're looking for since you're already using the appropriate term. Maybe it's called something different in your part of the country? Hmmmmm. 🤔

Have you considered not squaring off the block? Just keep adding and building until you're happy with the size. You could even change it up by making triangle blocks instead of square blocks.
