저는 수요일에 처가댁에 갔어요. 원래는 10시쯤에 출발할 계획이었는데, 그날 아침에 눈이 많이 와서 집 주변에 눈을 치우는데 시간이 좀 걸렸어요. 결국 12시쯤에 출발하게 됐어요. 다행히, 생각만큼 차가 밀리지 않았어요.

i went to the moutain which is near the one from my uncle place. i wasn't planning to go to the top, i just wanted to take a walk lightly. but i found myself getting to the top becasue the veiw was much nice. but you know what i am really a poor in sharp. i ended up spending all my energy getting the summit. what a view!!! it was the most beautiful scnery i have ever seen this year. i always appreciate your videos ~

Thanks Teacher:) My father in-laws and I went to hike Gwanggyo mountain on Lunar New Year's Day afternoon. We were planning to go there right after we got up. We normally take a walk or hike the mountain early in the morning as long as he sleeps over my place. Because only both of us are early birds and really like to do that. But we found that the snow outside was piled up too much. So we ended up leaving in the afternoon. Luckily, the sun was out and the snow melted quickly.

Always appreciate your effort!! I went to see my in-laws this Monday. I was supposed to leave around 4'o clock, but the traffic on the highway was so terrible and apparently I will take about 3 hours. So, we ended up leaving after having dinner. Luckily, the traffic wasn`t as bad as we had thought.

쌤 새해가 시작되었습니다. 새해 복 많이 받으세요. ^^ 오늘 하신 말씀중에 왜 다 외우라고 하는지 그이유에 대해 설명하시는데... 너무 공감이 되서요. 저는 원어민과 화상영어를 일주일에 3번 하는데요. 진짜 실전에 들어가면 샘한테 배웠던 문장들이 갑자기 튀어나와서 놀랄때가 많아요. 유료강의 많이 들어보고 쉐도잉도 해봤지만 진짜 실전에서 써본 기억이 거의 없어요. 샘강의에서 알려주신 그상황에 대한 패턴이 가장 유용하다고 생각해요. 어떤분은 한국말은 생각하지 말고 영어를 그대로 받아들이라고 하는데 전 그게 안되더라구요. 돌아 돌아 왜 이제서야 오게 됐는지 아쉽지만 열심히 할께요. 항상 감사합니다.^^

I was planning to make chocolate cookies and started mixing the dough. But soon I realized that I didn't have any chocolate chips left. I changed the recipe and put cranberries instead. It tasted pretty great for a changed recipe. It wasn't as bad as I thought.

We were planning to get back home in the late afternoon on Seollal. But the traffic was getting worse as we expected. Plus, my parents wanted us to stay one more night and we ended up leaving early the next morning without having breakfast. Luckily we were able to beat the traffic. As we got closer to Seoul, the number of vehicles increased, but there wasn't as much congestion as we had thought.

over the first three days of the Lunar New Year holidays, I went to see my parents-in-law's house and in-laws'. we had a great time. after coming back from the short trip, my family and i were planning to go hiking in a nearby mountain on Wednesday, which was the last day of the holidays. but, i woke up that morning very late, which was no wonder, because i stayed up too late the night before watching Netflix. so, we ended up giving up the hike. instead, i decided to get my car checked and i took it to the mechanics. but they were closed for the holidays. i should've checked first. I've realized that things aren't going as well as I initially thought.

앞에 finish때문에 Until을 by로 바꾸시는 게 적절해보입니다. 몇시까지는 운동을 끝내려고 했다라는 의미일테니까요. Until을 쓰시려면 i was gonna work out until 9. 9시까지는 운동을 하려고 했다. Until은 특정시점까지 지속되는 느낌으로, By는 특정시점까지는 완료되는 느낌으로 쓰심 됩니다.

저는 이번 명절연휴가 끝나면 친구랑 뷰가 좋은 커피숍에 가기로 했었어요. 그런데 친구네 직장동료가 확진이 되서 제친구도 검사를 받아야 한데요. 우리는 약속을 취소했고 다행히 결과는 음성이래요. 코로나때문에 무서워서 어디를 못다닐것같아요. I was planning to go to a coffee shop with my friend with a nice view. But my friend's co-worker has been confirmed. so my friend had to be tested. we ended up canceling our appointment. Luckily her result was negative. I don't think I can go anywhere because I'm scared of coronavirous.

We went to the pizza house of il-gusuno today afternoon. But my mom got all the groceries needed for the memorial service from the market and passed them to me last night, so we ended up having a full setup memorial service. 우선 than이 비교급이니까 bad가 아니라 worse로 해야합니다. - The traffic wasn't worse than we had thought. "생각했던 것 보다 더 나쁘진 않았어" => 교통량이 예상했던 것만큼 이었어. - The traffic wasn't as bad as we had thought. "생각했던 것 만큼 나쁘진 않았어" => 교통량이 예상했던 것보다 적었어.

저 이거 항상 명확히 모르겠는 부분인데요. 시점상 10시경 떠나기로 계획한것도 눈이 많이 오구 그 눈을 치우는데 시간이 걸린것보다 앞이잖아요. 그래도 had p.p를 안 쓰고 그냥 다 과거형인데, 마지막 문장에서는 had thought으로 과거완료형인데 정확히 어떨때 대과거를 써야하고 어떨땐 그냥 과거형을 써도 되는거에요?^^

현재완료나 과거완료같은 완료형에서는 시간을 명시하지 않고 막연하게 그렇게 생각 해왔다 또는 그런 상태이다 등..그래서 완료형태에 시간을 암시하고 싶다면 ~때부터 같은 since 부사, 또는 ~동안 같은 for 같은 전치사로 표현해주고 정확한 시간을 얘기할려면 과거형으로 표현. 이 예문에서도 10시와 같은 구체적인 시간이 나왔으므로 과거형..had thought 과 같이 정확한 시간을 언급하기에 어색하고 그냥 난 그렇게 생각했었다~같은 문맥에서는 완료형을 쓰는걸로 압니다

"차가 많이 막히겠지" 라고 생각했던 예상이 실제로 운전을 시작해서 도로가 상황이 괜찮다는 것을 알게 된 것보다 과거 시점이어서 과거완료로 한 것이지만 실제 회화체에서는 과거완료 대신 단순 과거로 말하는 경우가 많긴 합니다. 이런 문장에서는 대체적으로 과거완료와 단순과거의 교차 사용이 괜찮지만 문맥과 의미에 따라서 반드시 구분해서 사용해야 할 때도 이례적으로 있습니다 😁

No. It wouldn't sound awkward at all. Using the simple past tense is how people would normally say it. However, there is something we need to keep in mind. It's about prediction and interpretation. "It was worse than I had thought." is clearly referring to a prediction before something happened. However, depending on the context, "It was worse than I thought." could be referring to an misinterpretation of a situation and not a prediction. For example, let's say you slipped on some snow and hurt your knee. There was a little pain in your knee, but you had no serious problem moving it or walking and decided that it wasn't a serious injury. * This is not a prediciton. It's an interpretation of a situation.* Now, let's imagine that the pain didn't go away even after a week, afterwhich you went to a doctor and found out that there was a very small fracture in your knee. In this case, we would say that "The injury was worse than I thought.". All this is to say that in most contexts, using the simple past tense instead of the past perfect is fine, especially in everyday use. However, there are some cases where we need to distinguish them to avoid confusion. 😁
