Hi Chris, I've been burning hawthorn logs. Found an old dead tree in the woods . Cut it into 5 foot logs with my bow saw. It was rotten in parts with nasty beetle grubs inside. Burns really hot and makes excellent coals. Just need to watch those thorns!

Another good video from professor Chris you got questions he has answers that we all understand keeping busy is good running low on supply is not my friends tree company does a volume wood thing I guess you call it three crews bringing in wood hard woods are oak hickory cherry has apple for smoking but maple hard or soft ash hedge most go into mixed wood pile to be split and sold went down before Thanksgiving Wednesday and had trucks and trailers lined up for wood for holidays sold a lot and still have a bunch but just saying everyone does stuff different but they have been doing it 50 years and it works paid both ways just saying like when asked you about boiler wood not called that here but have one at business and owners home so asked and you answered my question thank you been in it a while but still learning and if people have questions like now even though not working tell them to look your channel up has thousands of videos and I believe at one time you covered there questions thanks again Chris always interesting watching and learn a thing are two and I bounce off how we do it at the lot down here I told you we measure trailers for footage wise then heard you talking about that I think easier for people to understand that cause gives the length width and height so cover it all thanks for posting Chris be looking for other videos I run across some haven't seen yet still looking have a great day my friend

Because oak is very heavy when green and it takes 2 years to dry and always in high demand, I charge twenty dollars more per face cord than mixed hardwoods. Hickory, cherry, beech and apple are also at my premium price. For my budget minded heating people, I recommend locust and hard maple for the $130.00/ !/3rd cord mixed hardwood price. Forty years ago when I first started selling firewood I only sold oak, then I realized some fireplace people prefer faster burning mixed hardwoods.

Sounds like a great plan!

Chris, why don't you load the processor with some logs while you already have them picked up instead of putting everything into a new pile? I know it would only be ten or twelve logs but seems odd driving past the processor to only pick it up later again
@InTheWoodyardАй бұрын
I did you will see that soon, lots of logs.
@montygardner6232Ай бұрын
Its really to bad more people are not educated on but of diffrent wood for smoking meat and burning. Hard maple, oak, hickory and cherry all heat and smoke foods well. Locust hedge burn hot and are best used for heating. Keep educating people love your videos.

Gotta be careful in those big piles. I would rather have good solid ash than oak. Hard maple burns cleaner than oak and usually combusts cleaner. Oak splits nice and burns long but there are a lot of woods I like better than oak.
