WOOD CARVING AN EAGLE | Whittling project with crystal inlay

Wood carving video of a flying eagle pendant with garnet inlay. As all of my pieces, this necklace is 100% hand carved with hand tools. The wood I used is recycled black walnut, which is one of my favorites.
I took the video without a tripod so I had to be creative with the filming and you may notice it get at times a bit "shaky".. but hey! If you feel a call to share, never let lack of gear kill your creativity. :)

Very Inspirational. My go-to carving is a CNC, adding to my project list will be CNC version of this and also a hand carved equivalent. ( Better than twiddling thumbs waiting for CNC to complete) and compare them side by side. (I'm just learning hand carving & whittling techniques)

@@leshka_woodcarving everyone used to tell me that it looked like an unfinished swastika growing up. To remedy that i started adding a simple set of wings and a halo over it. It is what stemmed my symbol for my artwork and tattooing now.

Good job, I've been carving for over 50 years and I'm always amazed at how every wood carver develops their own techniques. Walnut is not an easy wood to carve. It will dull knives faster that basswood.

Wonderful work. It's amazing how you can carve such a small piece with Mora 120. I am a beginner, I bought some Mora and Two Cherries knives and a set of Narex palm chisels and I've done a few simple works so far.
