I really like the sturdy hardened design. It is a solid built that looks very tough. However, it's running about twice as fast as it should be. If you add some beefy gearing on the blade shaft it will slow it down and also increase the torque, Then you will have a winner. Also, I agree with others that it really needs a longer chute just in case a branch grabs your arm and tries to pull you in. Which is a super scary possibility, especially at the end of the day when you start getting tired.

Those aren't chips, they're chunks. Should be called a "Wood Chunker"
@eCitizen1
@eCitizen1 2 жыл бұрын
@@JoelAClear One nice thing about the size of those "chunks" is that starting a fire in your wood stove is much easier with that size compared to chips.

You are wrong ...it has great torque

@@giannisk36698 Would like to see how well it performs on larger diameter trunks, but the chips are way too big, imo. Should have been shorter blades close together to produce 2 inch or smaller chips, imo.

It is the heat that dulls your drill bits. The heat that softens the metal from lack of lube and often too high of cutting speed. Keeping them cool helps them to last many times longer. Lube, turn slower and provide plenty of feed (pressure) so you are always cutting into fresh cool metal.

That's the way to go! :) A badass chipper. The chipping chamber is solid as a rock and the engine is relatively quiet. Excellent work. :)

Dosen't matter if this is my voice, only few or a place lots of can rely on! This is wholesome and honest! Another resolve from being able to view somone else's art or work! I might take a risk and switch my motor bike to belt driven! It seems way more efficent than chain driven! I'm thankful for not moving on when finding somthing good! I was always like that!

Properly lolled at the smoke-filled room around 2:40 Great build though, I think I'll use it to help teach my students! Tonnes of different processes used and plenty of things for them to discuss in terms of why you've done it like that, how else you could do it, and etc etc Keep up the good work! 👍

I agree. Some random branch hooks your clothing, or gloves? Over before you can scream. Unseen wire, rope, or twine wrapped around your arm or leg? You'll probably get a single scream out, but you'll be gone before anyone hears it.

great job m8 but you defiantly need a slow feed roller in front of that , and not just for health and safety the stuff your kicking out is to long a slow feed roller working off the same engine with a gear reducer would produce chips not sticks , and as a bonus (ps 16 years feeding one o0f those on a daily basis as a tree surgeon in the UK ) it wont kill you faster than you can find the off button......which by the way should be on top of the feeder shoot or you got no chance , i have seen a climbers rope wrapper around a tree getting dragged in to a 9" chipper it was hilarious he was 20 feet up a conifer and the tree was bending as he was getting pulled in to the chipper ! we hit the stop button eventually ofc :-)

It’s a bit violent & the material is still too big for mulch or compost. I think it needs two blade drums that are over lapping, synchronised & running at a slower speed.

Awesome build, i like how it just chops them into twigs rather than mincing them into mulch, it makes it a useable machine with the tiny engine, the store bought units even the 15hp ones that cost 2000$ cant handle even 2" branches cause they try to turn them into fine mulch.. im just trying to reduce the size of some spruce and silver maple branches for transport to the landfill as i remove trees on the weekend for a side gig,this thing self feeds really well! if you want to mulch 2-6" branches the only solution is a tow behind vermeer with like 50HP diesel engine.. end up costing 30k US obviously not feasible do you know what rpm the blades are turning at and have you tried tweaking that with different pulleys to gauge the change in performance?
