I loved the big opening for the skid steer grapple bc it would never hit and damage the sides. Awesome chipper definitely taken care of fingers crossed on the sale!!

Most newer chippers or 2019 and newer chippers tend to start having major problems after 1300 hours

I agree on the many moving parts and can get costly. Chery;l and i finally upgraded to a 1994 Morbark 13 no auto feed. has a 4039 JD turbo diesel. super stoked on it, then a Morbark catalog came in the mail with smoking finance deals. 0 down no payments for 60 months.....yadaa, yaddaa. Huge chipper that AX19 is. Id rather have a grapple truck and a burn box.

I think you had a Morbark when I started watching the channel. Something about a safety wristband that would shut the chipper down if the wristband went past the sensor? Yea, Chip Safe was the video. Wow, that was 8 years ago now. Where has the time gone?

We’re actually building a new chip truck right now too. Chevy 5500, 12’ box with pull on ramps between the cab and box for our mini skid. Plus a plywood rack for about 14 sheets. Can’t wait.

Where I live a chipper is considered "special equipment" hence the no licensee plate... but they also don't count the weight. So you can drive a 26K truck and pull this chipper with no CDL... this confuses people because you couldn't tow a 10K dump trailer as that will but you over 26,001 combined gvw.

Actually you can tow a 10k trailer behind a 26k truck with a regular license, that's totally legal. The truck can never go above 26k. The trailer can be as heavy as you want if the total is under 26k (usually functionally capped at a 16k trailer with 10k truck like a 2500. The 10k trailer weight limit applies if the combination is to be above 26k. I'm not sure that you can legally put a chipper heavier than 10k (such as August's) behind a 26k chipper truck and have it be under CDL though. You will need DOT numbers plus a med card for driver, for any combination above 10k pounds (basically any 2500 and bigger with any sized trailer).

@@4.0gpa44 Once your set up goes over 26K you need a CDL.. its **combined** gvw so the truck and trailer together need to be less than 26K.... a 26K truck like a F650 cant pull a 10K trailer thats 36K combined and you need a CDL.. Where I live chippers don't have licenses plates and the weight isn't counted.. so you could pull this chipper with an f650 legally but only because a chipper is considered "special equipment" and not technically a trailer.

​​@@jonathantaylor6926I think you are misinformed. The law is Federal, and the weight will count to the total weight, even if your state doesn't require registration/plates for the chipper. And you can put a 9999 k dump trailer behind a 25999 dump truck and that is legal, even though the total is 35,998 k The law is very confusing, but I have read it myself from the FMCSA website as well as several state websites. The total must be kept under 26k if the trailer is above 10k. And the truck can never exceed 26k. However, a 26k truck can pull a 10k trailer, all with no CDL. And, to complicate matters further, the truck can even have air brakes, provided it is 26k or under. But if it is 33k with air brakes, and you have a CDL, you have to have an air brake endorsement. I suggest you read up from your state websites. Too many people have thought they can't tow perfectly legal combinations.

You can drive up to 26,000lb GCWR without a CDL. AX19 GCWR is 12-14k pounds I bet, so you can drive a truck with 12-14k GVWR, which is a DRW f350. So it CAN be done without a CDL, but your tow truck might not be as big as you would like it to be.
