Because to ignite sawdust you need much much lower energy, and the second thing is because fireplace become more solid. So in the end you get focused energy place, there pyrolysis takes its power to make some magic. :-)

@molinobeer Reactor heats itself . Of course some tiny amount of fuel (wood) are vested on heating to keep the high temperatures. Because of double-wall construction the heat radiation is not very high. But to achieve better performance we need to make good thermal insulation.

Hi , first of all, I am not the kind of man who want to make money of this project.I have no secrets. There is no plans because we did this project from the scrap.Sorry my English not so good, I really did not understand first question. About ash port: you not right, port not welded you. You can see welded flange. Take a look at a link [1] (that I added in description) on the 8th..9th second . About shake ash grate: take a look at 1:01 , below ash port you can see handle.
