You did a fantastic job on the screw driver, I was wondering what you would do with the cracked handle. Did you put any glue in there or just wood putty, It really looks nice.

What did you do to the wood? A varnish? I inherited my great uncles screwdriver that looks just like this and I’d like to restore it to give to his great grandson one day

50 years ago the cheapest screwdrivers were the ones with wood handles like the one you restored. The best ones had plastic handles. That doesn't mean you can't restore a wood handle screwdriver and make it look great. It only means that it's a good looking, cheap screwdriver.

Those screw drivers with the slots are very old. I restored a pair that were my great grandfather who lived through the Great Depression and was poor his whole life I don’t give a damn about what is worth restoring.

@@joestewart5406 Well said, my friend. Cherish it. My father-in-law's father-in-law gave me an old ball peen hammer when I was just starting out. The old guy has been dead for decades but when I mailed the hammer to his grandson he said he will cherish it. Ok, so it was a cheap, low quality hammer but who cares. We did the same when my dad passed away. Every tool he owned is cherished and will be 'til we die. I'm glad you have the screwdriver.
