So, I want to install a fireplace in my shop and its about 18' to roof, Do I have to use DVL to roof and then switch to a duratech type pipe through roof and out?

Yes, if it’s a woodstove, you would use the DVL pipe to the ceiling like you said, and then the durTech pipe (class A chimney pipe) from the ceiling up. If it’s a fireplace that would be different you would use the pipe that’s manufactured for that fireplace. And you would use that pipe from the top of the fireplace all the way up through the roof

Do I need a class a section going through my wall thimble? Or can I just use a thimble alone? I’m installing a wood stove in a non-insulated garage. Thank you.

This is the problem I am having now. Is there a small section of the DBL that fits the inner diameter of the thimble? I am using single wall (6") and the thimble is 7" as far as I can tell.
