wood turning a 12" tree branch

what can you do with a 12 inch tree branch. The branch came from a cherry tree. I turned a 3 tealight set from this tree branch. each one a different size and accented with burn lines. they are sanded to 400 grit and finished with friction polish. I sell them for 25.00 a set at craft shows. These are a basic design but there are many different candle holder designs to choose from. Use your imagination to come up with a design you like.

I don't usually don't get straight limbs. I ended up making a mini sawmill to straighten them out. Good job.

Homemade made a attachment for bandsaw. Works like a circle mill. Not as fancy, cuts what need. I make copies of army munitions.

Can't a candle generate enough heat to ignite a wood candle holder? I've heard of homes burning due to candles either in wood holders or setting directly on wood tables. Just curious.

If it's wood you can turn it. If it's a branch you can turn it. I turn what ever I can get my hands on.

Most of the wood I turn is already dry. What most people do with wet wood is rough turn it then pack it in wood shavings in a brown paper bag for a few months. Then finish turning it.

I use bailing wire for thicker lines and left over mig welder wire for thinner lines.

What do you use to create the burn marks in the machined grooves please?

This I used bailing wire. I also use mig welding wire from my mig welder. It's thinner than the bailing wire.

Personally I use guitar strings for that, just put some holders on the ends and never wrap the wire around your fingers as you'll lose them.

The glove issue comes from direct drive and metal lathes where there is zero give, most belt drive wood lathes will stall if you wrapped a glove around them ! But this being you tube the trolls come out in full force! Do what you want and ignore them
