doubled sale's by adding this feature. In this new woodturning video I tried a new feature that went over good with the customers. I used a tree branch from paper birch and wrapped part of it with colored twine. I used thin CA glue because I ran out of medium, but the medium is easier to work with and less messy. This is an easy woodturning project. it takes about 15 minutes to make and they sold for $15.00 each. I also show a little of how to sharpen a bowl gouge.
I hope you enjoy this new wood turning video. Thanks for watching.

Thank you everyone for tuning in! I just wanted to add that you can use different colors with different types of wood. One of my most popular was a dark wood with regular brown twine. I added it in 2 places. On the neck and near the base. Gave it a rustic look. Also use medium CA glue. I ran out and used thin and it was a bit messy. Thank you all for your support!

...cool addition...think I'll try it on my next pot. And thanks for showing your sharpening station...my sander's base is different, but I'll figure it out... By the way, to double my sales, I cut my projects in half...😉 Matt

I should have asked in my original comment but didn’t think about it until later. Is the colored twine from Amazon?

Very creative! Apply a small amount of CA to stiffen the yarn; drill a small hole and insert the end and then wrap. Bury the tag end in the yarn with a drop of CA. Yes, medium is not as messy. BTW, I have watched a couple of your videos. You mostly use one tool- spindle gouge or bowl gouge? Looks like a spindle gouge. Wife says I have enough wood to build Abe Lincoln a log house! Thanks for sharing the turning and the yarn wrap.

Thank you! Ya the hole to put the end in is a good. I use a 1/2 bowl gouge. Instead of building the cabin you could throw the wood on a lathe and make a bunch of decor for inside the cabin. Thanks for watching!

Great sharpening setup! Just curious, why don't you use a roughing gouge to clean the bark off before you start the proper turning? That would make your bowl gouge last longer and the need to sharpen it less often. I learnt the hard way to stop turning before the wood gets to the tear-out stage and finish it off with a chisel so there's no hole in the bottom of my work.

I've just always used the bowl gouge. I use minimal tools. It makes sharpening simpler.

Fantastic. Really nice. It might be good to have a pack of colored sharpies to touch up any spots on the twine, if needed. As always really nice project. And a nice twist to a vase!!!

@@LBrown518 Thank you! I appreciate that! I know a lot of people start with carbide tools. Traditional tools like the bowl gouge require a way to sharpen it. I use a 1/2 bowl gouge 95% of the time. I prefer traditional tools if you have the means of sharpening.
