Молодец! Я пошла другим путём, заказала мангал знакомому сварщику, попросила сделать как для себя. Он сварил мангал из пятёрки, с крышкой, узорами по бокам, покрасил термостойкой краской, привёз и установил, забетонировав ножки . Такая красивая и надёжная вещь получилась.😊

I've made three of these over the last 12 years. You want to get a food-safe steel drum, not anything that stored harsh or deadly chemicals. Usually the food-safe ones have a liner inside that you simply have to burn and peel out. Afterward, just rub a crap ton of lard inside and smoke it to season and coat the inside of the barrel. The bricks here are pointless and actually don't help at all except to make it weigh 200 lbs. Cutting open a door is standard, then building a fire basket for the coals is WAY better than burning them directly on the bottom of the barrel. I see they concreted the bottom to prevent breakthrough from burning the barrel. As a side note, the Weber Grills and Lids fit perfect inside and on top of the steel drums :)

@orvadepy I understand they are meant for stove, oven, or chimney but you just don't need them in this application. Just weld a basket 2 inches off the bottom to hold the wood and the coals works easier and is lighter and cheaper.

With those types of drums, you have to burn them with a hot fire for atleast 24 hours at 850f to 900f to get all the chemicals out. And thats just to use 1 as a wood burning stove. The best 1s to use are the 1s that hold hydraulic fluid, or soap. About a 6 hour fire inside, to burn off all the paint and protective coating, and you can turn it into a smoker.

@@dreamachines8584 those work too. But you still got to burn the inside of them out, they have an epoxy lamination on the inside to prevent corrosion. Just like any other type of metal container, from an 88 gallon drum, to a soup can.

I think you get my point, which one is safe enough that you would feed your child off of it? Let’s just say you make $30 an hour and it takes you 80 hours to make one. That is $2400. Your time is definitely worth something and the health of your loved ones is the highest priority.
