At the end of the video the written instructions say "cross brace at 22 and should say 21, at the bottom in the excel table its correct at 21" for the cross brace.

I know this is kinda old video but I have followed your instructions and built not one but two of these exact stands. They have worked perfectly for what I need. Just wanted to say thank you for making this video and helping me check this off my bucket list. Me and my dad used to build these exact kinda stands. My first time ever making something out of nothing by myself. Appreciate you 🤘🙏

Thanks for posting this video. I build one today using 2x4x10s. I need a couple more stands so I might make it using 2x4x12s. Those are $7 at Home Depot versus $6 for the 10' studs. In total I spent $40 because I used a box of 2 1/2" deck screws. I did find one error in the cut list. The cross-piece on the back should be the same width as the steps--21" and not 22".

Thank you for noting this, glad it was an inch to long and not to short.

My tree stand is so simple. All you need is a long rope that can hold your weight and one 2 by 8 that is 2 feet long and a clip. To make the chair you drill 4 small holes into board corners so your rope can go thru. Cut 4 peices off of rope 6 feet long. Tie a knot at one end of every 6 foot rope peice. Slip rope in hole in board and pull rope till it hits knot and do this to the other holes. Tie together ropes at other end of knots do this to the left and right side of board. Use iron clip on top to clip left and righ sides together. When finished it should look like a seat you use on a tree swing. Setting up the rope to be used as an elevator. Tie loops in rope every 2 feet so you have a rope that is 1/2 loops and 1/2 plain rope. Next step. A second clip can be added to the rope side of rope elevator by adding a loop on rope for clip. Attach tree swing seat top rope clip to other clip. Get in so you can sit on board while you use your legs to push down on loops , one foot at a time. You will easily climb the tree. You get the rope with loops by throwing one end of rope over a thick branch in tree that has a tied weight of some sort at one end. Under seat you put 2 hooks so you can bring up with you some bags to put stuff in and on one side of seat is a gun holder.

Simple and effective. I would have only used screws though haha
@randomreviews757411 ай бұрын
I agree i like screws better too -- but my nail gun is so fast

Screws don’t have near the sheer strength that nails do… nails are much stronger. Great build
@cybercat256711 ай бұрын
@McGuireOutdoors88 screws will last way longer than nails. Also for this build you wouldn't have to worry about screws or nails breaking lol.

The two legs do you cut both ends 15° or just the bottom...im looking at the video and it looks like the top of the stand is not cut 15°
@randomreviews75743 күн бұрын
top of the stand is cut at 15-- cut both ends and make sure they are parallel :)

@@randomreviews7574 do you think this same design would work with longer 2x4s for the ladder, say 10, 12, 14 or even 16 foot pieces to get higher off the ground?
@randomreviews75745 күн бұрын
@@TravisVigneault the on in the video is 10ft. If I was going 12+ or higher i would by 2x6 for the legs just to be super safe
