Just a suggestion with regards to the outdoors hiking kind of videos you mentioned you would like to make. Maybe you could combine that with a Super Q&A. So instead of answering questions with gameplay in the background, you could answer questions while hiking out in nature to give a different kind of vibe and still have content that is related to your channel. I have to say I REALLY enjoy the Stellaris series. To give this "foreign" game a familiar touch and see what stories the gameplay writes (especially seeing what happened in Ep.13) is incredible. I'd go as far as to say I wanna see more runs with different Empires. Especially now that you have the baseline of your mods in place I'd imagine it's not that hard to whip up another 300 year campaign in 2 or 3 months (or whenever you feel it again).

Speaking of where we can go next, I believe Anet have started to introduce more and more hints at the Mists and possibly a new cosmic scale. First, Kralkatorrik with "Mother", then the snippets from the new artbook about Utopia, and the fact that GW2 originally was about angelic and demonic beings descending into Tyria to judge it (taken from The Art of Guild Wars 2 from 2012). And now the fact that Kralkatorrik devoured some parts of the Mists can be used to justify our journeys. Personally I'd love to visit some exotic places that cross the border between realities.

For little what consolation it may be, I feel you WP on the whole wanting to make a game thing, but realizing to make the project in your head is practically an impossibility. I've just finished my university course for games design and to be honest in the end I only finished it for the sake of finishing it, i've become pretty burnt out and hollow on deciding I just don't have what it takes and as always, WP shows a lot of maturity and foresight by realizing this before investing so much time and future debt into it. For what it's worth, I think you're entirely right about having picked up enough games design knowledge to make a really good game, one thing i've learnt is a lot of people have little to no insight on how these things work and wouldn't know what to do with the opportunity, but if WP was magicked into the position of being the director of a game of his dreams, honestly think he'd nail it.

Walking with WP is a channel I would love to see. There is a community of nature walkers on tiktok that are really popular, and this translates into longer form content on yt, where they take the audience on a walk with them, point out plants, share facts, chat, or just share the sounds of nature. If you would ever want to pick something like that up, I'd watch it. I feel a lovely little hike across scenic sights in the UK would definitely work for the audience that are wfh, want a familiar voice in the room but also need their mind elsewhere, or simply to wind down after work if they can't get outside. Though there is something really nice about keeping a hobby for yourself, no pressure just walking. PS. Growing up in Cornwall I really loved and would recommend the Perranporth and Tintagel coastal walks if you are ever down there.

Your interpretation of the fates of Yian Zho's sisters is certainly intriguing and ripe for potential. However, to me An Empire Divided seems to suggest that Yian Zho not only arranged the death of Kaineng Tah via the fellow huntsmen (given the evidence of wounds on both Kaineng Tah and his well-trained horse) but may have also gotten rid of the emperor's will as well as the two elder sisters in order to secure his place on the throne. Maybe there had been some argument between Kaineng Tah and Yian Zho before the incident, and Kaineng Tah had chosen to select one of his daughters or even Yian's younger brother for the throne, so Yian felt he had to act to secure his place as a future leader. Then again, the wording in the document is somewhat ambiguous ("Yian Zho's two elder sisters were neither consulted nor welcome in the succeeding government. Their fates are unknown, but they vanish from the record weeks after Yian Zho took the mantle of emperor. "). So there's some hope that maybe they realized what their brother was up to and could've survived assassins sent by him and escaped somewhere to found a new haven. However, I'd support a more cynical examination of the evidence given the previous clues of Kaineng Tah's death and there being no known will (which may have been destroyed). Either way, there's a lot of fascinating stuff that the writers can explore about this period of history if they decide to delve deeper into it just like we got some revelations about Asgeir Dragonrender during the Icebrood Saga. As for the overarching plot of the Elder Dragons, devs such as Bobby Stein have said that all potential subplots (and closing some open plots like Malyck's Tree, the Krytan locket, Heir of Ascalon, Wizard's Tower, E, fate of King Jadon's other children, King Adelbern etc.) must all tie to the dragon plotline in some way if they're to be explored in the "golden path" of main storyline or in various side plots (fractals and raids potentially being excluded given their nature). Still, Andrew Gray has said the following about what he thinks the connecting storyline between GW1 and GW2 is, and I agree with his interpretation: > This is just my take, but I feel like the races of Tyria struggling to understand and maintain the balance of magic and knowing their place within that balance is a theme that is touched on heavily throughout both Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2. A lot of the backstory from before Guild Wars deals with the consequences of the mortal races acquiring magic, ala King Doric and Abaddon. There's also a large number of people, good and bad, who bit of more than they could chew with magic beyond what they could control, and the ramifications of those actions is often what the PC is striving to correct in both games. > The revelation of the Elder Dragon cycle was (or should have been) a humbling moment for races that up to that point acted like they alone owned magic, but instead the initial reaction was the same as it always had been - an attempt to control it through force. It's something that has kicked the can down the road a number of times before, but eventually you run out of road. en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/comment/493893/#Comment_493893 So basically the story of GW franchise is the responsibility and consequences of using magic: with great power comes great responsibility, essentially. :) Even if we saw the end of the Elder Dragon plotline, that doesn't mean GW2 will be over. I'd say that two major things connect to this overall storyline of magic: the gods, and Glint's Legacy. Linsey Murdock and several other devs have teased that the gods' story may not be over, and there's more to Balthazar's motivations and actions than we've seen in GW2, not to mention the mystery of Lyssa's potential involvement and motivations, Menzies's fate and machinations, the prophecy of Mad Souls about how Kormir will continue the cycle of Abaddon (and presumably his fallen predecessor) and eventually bring about the downfall of the gods, and possibly even Razah's role (or at least exploring why he was seemingly Abaddon's most guarded secret). Glint's Legacy is even more important at this juncture in time. We know from Glint, Forgotten, Exalted and Ogden that the plan is to change the world order and introduce more benevolent replacements to the current Elder Dragons while not letting Tyria fall into the brink of destruction (by killing too many Elder Dragons. We know that too much consumption of magic may result in Torment and potentially even Temptation, driving the balancers to even more evil acts, so the key is to have these replacements bond with mortals and share magic with the bonded champions/minions to lessen the burden. As such, I'd argue that the optimal scenario would be (if Aurene holds on to two magic domains from Kralkatorrik and doesn't let go of one of the spheres) to have not five replacements but potentially 10 replacements, each replacement inheriting one domain from their predecessor dragon. Given how Aurene did not emerge as Elder Crystal Dragon but Elder Prismatic Dragon (and how devs have said it's significant that Mordremoth's aspects were not Plant and Mind but Root and Madness inside Kralkatorrik while Zhaitan's aspects remained as Death and Shadow within Kralk), it seems that these domains/aspects can transform as a successor takes the mantle similar to how Abaddon's portfolio transformed and shifted around for Lyssa (who took in Water) and Kormir (who turned Knowledge/Secrets into Order, Spirit and Truth). As such, it's likely that we'll never again see an Elder Dragon of Plant/Death or Elder Dragon of Mind/Shadow in quite the same way but some Elder Dragon/Being of whatever those aspects may transform into. Currently we know, as per Season 3 lore, that at least four Elder Dragon spheres (or eight domains/aspects of magic domains) need to be in a constant push/pull motion in the Antikytheria mechanism of the All to keep Tyria from being destroyed and that Zhaitan and Mordremoth's "spheres" are still dormant despite other Elder Dragons and entities taking in snippets of their respective magical domains. As such, killing Jormag without having a replacement handy (or finding replacements for Zhaitan and Mordremoth) can't happen, and it seems unlikely that Aurene can just take in that power without some bad after effects. As such, this hunt for Elder Dragon replacements will likely become a recurring plot alongside the remaining Elder Dragon invasions, and we'll need to find those replacements sooner and later, perhaps taking shortcuts where necessary as we won't necessarily have the benefit of raising new replacements from birth to become sympathetic towards mortal races as Aurene became. Perhaps Malyck's and Pale Trees can divide Mordremoth's spheres among themselves to be such replacements (depending on the morality and trustworthiness of Malyck's Tree) while Shiny (who was raised from a young age by Goren and learned some valuable info from the djinn so he should be sympathetic towards "lesser" races) can potentially replace another Elder Dragon without too many adverse effects (if it turns out that saltspray dragons can in fact become replacements). This also opens up lots of other cool plotlines such as some villains, antivillains or even antiheroes trying to claim/raise/enslave such replacements by themselves as we know from Kuda/Kudu's experiments and Arah's mursaat path that the Inquest already have some means of controlling dragon minions and champions that they can expand upon. Imagine a mortal antagonist actually having an Elder Dragon (or an ED replacement) at their beck and call. Alternatively we could see a villain genuinely bonding with a would-be replacement, and we'd basically see the "evil" version of Aurene/Commander/Caithe bonding where that love is genuine but used for darker purposes by the villain and the villainous replacement. (Continued below in this thread.)
@Kossage4 жыл бұрын
(Continued from above.) There are, of course, other plots that should be resolved too if the magic storyline continues. Namely, the fate of the remaining bloodstones and how some villains or heroes may try to abuse their power if ambient magic in the world charges up these stones like Maguuma Bloodstone was charged up. We know the Ring of Fire bloodstone was in Abaddon's Mouth, and the Flame Legion had made excavations in that region as they recovered Sohothin there; whether they found the bloodstone is a story worth exploring. There's also the Shiverpeaks bloodstone which was in Bloodstone Caves but is currently absent from the caves in GW2's Straits of Devastation; is the bloodstone deeper in the caves now, or did someone take it between the games (assuming it shrunk down like Maguuma bloodstone was shrunk down until Zhaitan's death returned more magic to it)? Then there's the matter of the third bloodstone in some unknown location, and of course the hidden Keystone which is said to unite all the bloodstones into one somehow. Depending on how the Elder Dragon and ED replacement plotline goes (with some mortal villains in the mix), there's of course another magical foe group that is even worse than the dragons: demons, beings born from the malignant energies in the Mists and who instinctively hate all the living but who can still make some self-serving pacts with mortals like we've seen demons making pacts with Stone Summit (and curiously remaining loyal to them), the demon Mang cheating the sorcerer who summoned him so he could wrestle free and wreak havoc in Cantha, or acting as enforcers for other beings like Deimos is said to be an agent of the mursaat. Perhaps since Abaddon's fall we could've either seen some powerful demons emerge as archdemons to lead packs of demons, or we might see more beings like Razah but without the GW1 Hero's guidance so they might turn evil or amoral and advance their own cause. One of the theories I've enjoyed is the idea of Razah seeking more Mist beings/demons and taking them in as his apprentices to teach them GW1 Hero's lessons, and how one or more of Razah's apostles might've betrayed him and the rest of the apostles to pursue a more sinister (or knight templarish) agenda. Either way, demons are a story point well worth exploring as their ties to magic are unmistakable (they desire souls, and we have lore that souls are made from magic). We could even see the return of folks like Lord Odran if he was clever enough to prepare for his eventual demise like Zoltun Kulle in Diablo 3. He might initially present himself as a benevolent ghost to the heroes but eventually backstab them (in less obvious fashion than "Lazarus" did in GW2) so he can realize his dream of taking over the Hall of Heroes and gaining access to the Rift/nexus to expand his influence to the multiverse and all space and time. We know Odran wasn't the nicest person as he killed people en masse to open the portals to the Mists from Tyria, so his story could open some interesting avenues about traumas souls face and the use of life energy etc. We could also see a villain emerging who has come to hate magic because of all the destruction it has caused among various races over the millennia. Perhaps this villain could seek out to destroy/permanently seal magic away forever even though the consequences would be dire (as souls are also part of the magic ecosystem). If GW franchise story is about the responsibility of using magic, it makes sense that an ultimate villain would be a direct enemy of magic itself. This could even potentially tie into an endgame I'd like to see for GW2: the dawn of the Fourth Guild War. Just like GW1 began at the very end of the Third Guild War, this villain could try to orchestrate the Fourth Guild War (except now it'd include all races and not just humans) and we have to race to stop him/her and prevent this catastrophe from happening while various races/factions/guilds grow more thirsty for more magic (whether from bloodstones, the ED replacements, demons, or Mists themselves). All in all, unless the devs go against Mo's ideas of GW2 always being about dragons, I'd see Aurene and the other replacements becoming mainstays of the later GW2 saga as the replacements try to get used to their new responsibilities and powers, and we see a balance of power emerging as some replacements may be less benevolent/morally grey than others all the while the mortal races may try to steer these replacements in various directions for their own reasons (whether selfish or altruistic but misguided). The ultimate threat here could be the Apostate's warning: Tyria faces a calamity if there's too little or too much magic, and history may repeat itself if Tyria is on the brink of repeating what may have happened to the gods' and humanity's lost homeworld (assuming that the Harbinger of Woe's texture may be referencing the potential destruction of that homeworld). So, there are lots of ways to continue the story of magic even if we no longer have any of the original Elder Dragons left in the future with Aurene being our sole overarching link between the two halves of GW2 story as "the first of her kind" (aka the first replacement) as Kralkatorrik has prophesied. :)

Hey WP, thanks for the answer! I definitely still play and enjoy Stellaris, even though not every day, but in (too) long sessions every now and then. I got quite far into my first campaign, and things definitely get more and more complex as you expand. I will keep in mind your advice about mods. The suggestion about the improved Empires is particularly close to what I am looking for. The aspect of the game that I feel I would like to be "better" is certainly the personality of Empires. It is probably because I am fundamentally a RPG player and what fascinates me more in this kind of strategy game is the lore and the emergent storytelling. But in Stellaris after the alien empires you meet start increasing in number, with odd names and faces, it becomes difficult to really be invested in them, both as allies or rivals. There's no Protoss or Zergs, Romulans or Vulkans: those fictional peoples that make sense to you, have their own identity, background and feelings that make you care about their doings and their relationship with you. It then becomes mostly a matter of game mechanics. What you did in your series was to improve that by using the Guild Wars races, which we, as fans, already have a huge attachment to, we know their lore, we have our heartfelt preferences and hostilities. That's the kind of feeling I am looking for and I think it would make me more invested in the next campaign.

I think there is a lot of room to move forward in Tyria after the dragons because of the way they've built up the story. Once the dragon crisis is over Tyria is going to be very different, especially on a large time scale. If the standard cycle has been disrupted, what takes it place? I think they should go the guild wars 3 route(preferably pulling in gw1 gameplay ideas) but I don't think Tyria as a setting stops being interesting after this crisis.

It's cold comfort, but I remind myself of that every time I get sad I wont be able to achieve getting that game out of my head and into other people's hands. With that being said, if you have the means, even if you have to scrap by to give yourself the means, I think you should jump on it with all you've got and take that chance. WP hope all is well. With the current world events IRL obviously shipping of products is difficult. However i received my GW2 artbook today. And it has a tonnnn of pages about Utopia in it. Would you like me to send you some transcripts on the lore. We have actual continent names and more. Not the best quality but i can send a few photos of the pages. EDIT : Got too excited and send you some DM's on Discord with some sneak peaks

you gotta check out Unity with Atavism, it cuts out a lot of the basic grunt work with building an mmo! I'm in a similar boat as far game dev experience. I'm just figuring it out as i go.

Oh, Eleway! I'm lookoing forward to that video. I've been playing around with having an all 4 elements party comp with my ele character but i goofed up in NF and picked the wrong acolyte. Now i gotta play trough NF to get enough eles and i lost enthusiasm a bit.^^" Maybe its time to pick up the game again. *Incoming nerdvoice "have you considered..." advice about things you probably already meditated on for weeks and after many, well thought-trough considerations decided against*: i'm so sorry but i cant help myself ^^" About your big dreams... i wonder if you were to make a video and pdf about your game idea and make it public, you'd inspire a little game studio looking for ideas somewhere. If you'd be fine with just sowing the seeds, giving up control and seeing what comes of it. Probably nothing would happen but if you really want to play/see that game it might be a chance worth taking. Also i'm all for outdoors-wp! (Truly a multifaceted individuum

WP i am confused or i might also be missing soemthing which havev happen in the past sorry if that is the case. But the Steel and Fire patch with storie part, strikemissions, and the visions of the past i can not find anything about it at all except for patchnotes. Am i blind or did you not cover that patch?

I actually think your Stellaris series is awesome and would be equally good without the Tyria part in it (although I appreciate the effort), really looking forward to every episode. As for the GW2 map post Cantha, Shaman said it's already problematic to patch the entire thing together outside of the game for his Historical Guide, I don't know how the game handles API tiles but I can't imagine they have infinite enginge capabilities for that. Speaking of future of GW, there's so much we still don't know about races from previous Elder Dragon risings (outside of the ones from the very previous one and still, we know very little about the Seers, and other ones, except for Mursaat and maybe Forgotten, could use more representation), we still have very little knowledge of human gods and history of humanity in general, or even afterlife and the Mists. The Utopia lore in the new artbook makes it seem so interesting, I'd love to explore it at some point (either in GW2 or in another game). And there are still those little stories we know generally about (like the Cataclysm) but making them into specifically represented events in single-player RPGs would be amazing.Imagine a game where you create your character, a child of some Orrian general trying to hold off charr on the Scavenger's Causeway. You discover something's very wrong with Vizier Khilbron and trying to stop him. Entire Orr to explore, a deep dive into a culture we only experienced after it's all gone to waste. I'd love something like that. Or hell, one of the Guild Wars itself, it could even be tied to a WvW-like mode. Preferrably the third one would be super interesting, the period right after it and before charr invasion could be included too. Dreams...

Hey man you should try at least do some volunteer work, I do some already and it's super rewarding, also in the process to get into a search and rescue team, After some setbacks I was worried I wouldn't be able to use the skills i picked up in the service but hell now its motivating me to look at new approches

Hey man. I have that golden idea too. Many actually. So I D&D. Most of my campaigns are homebrew, and i flagrantly change rules and systems when it suits me. Its game dev with no need to learn a programming language! I've got sone ideas for a ttrpg of my own, but of course, I need to make sure it fills a niche. Perhaps you should create a ttrpg using your ideas, or format it into D&D.

I can see a Cantha expansion where an Elder Dragon actually flees from us TO the dragon-themed empire would be a really, really simple way to lower the stakes again, without making them trivial. We'll go in and kill the dragon most likely, but then we'll have a heavily disgruntled Cantha to deal with, because the Dragon actually offered them a beneficial deal. And with the threat of the Elder Dragons out of the way, nations might start getting a bit iffy with organizations like the Pact and the Vigil still existing. Cantha will probably be the first to start shit, and we might need to side with or against the Kurzicks and Luxons to regain their ancestral lands after they pro-actively helped us against the last Dragon, further pitting us against Cantha. They might even send a fleet against Tyria which we'll have to deal with somehow. Then there's the Tengu islands that might become a story of their own -- Or maybe even the key map for the Canthan invasion. Then, seeing how the Pact turned on Cantha after killing the last Elder Dragon, the countries of Tyria demand the Pact be disbanded, and distrust amongst the species starts to heighten again as the unsavory elements, particularly of the Asura and the Charr (Flame Legion still exists after all), make their presence more known. The Norn have already suffered from decreasing trust in the Jormag storyline, and wouldn't you know it some fools start... The Second Guild Wars, which becomes the final state of Guild Wars 2, where players are asked to join a side and duke it out in overworld maps in WvW style, and Guild Halls.

I've been playing gw2 on and off for years. Always watched your videos for updates and other content gw2 related. I love the game, but playing it solo keeps me going on and off. I'd like there to be a better way of finding guilds or players on around the same time as myself. Hopefully the make more changes to that.

After cantha?? Well i recall there's a research to bring back the risen to their senses, maybe restorations of orr?? But that doesnt deserve a full expansion, maybe a living story??

Stellaris is the only reason I subscribed again (as I no longer care about GW2). So please bring more Stellaris, GW1 and other games you are passionate about! Chances are I (and many more) will watch and enjoy them. As for the game design induced insomnia: try to sit down and get it out of your system. Make notes, write down everything - to the point that everything you ever thought of is on paper or a doc or a spreadshied. This might help so you don't have to obsess about it at night and you have it all in a secure place so you can come back to it, if you need or want to.
@AntonMochalin4 жыл бұрын
I will repeat here that catering to the nostalgia audience interested in Cantha is a mistake. Views count for each new video will drop after viewers realize it's not about upcoming (in the distant future) GW2 update but rather a LP for quite irrelevant game. Yes they will view a video or two but then will just react with "OMG GW1 again" and go view other channels' videos. It's possible to ride a hype train but it's foolish to expect to ride that train for long.

@aprilkuck59384 жыл бұрын
They wanted to rebrand it to allow for different uploads. People had an expectation on what a living world was suppose to look like. They wanted to change how we view content. Use the visions of the past. If this was LV we would expect it to be big map etc. but since we are in a saga and we don’t know what to except they can change our expectation. When they announce the saga they explained it there

Didn't you say once upon a time that some pvp dude in Gw2 got hired on to help make it? Maybe you could ask if they have space with the writing team. They all know your name, probably every single person at that company. It could be a foot in, even if a tiny one. You've been so dedicated to the entire franchise, it'd be a crime for them not to buy into the goldmine that is that brain of yours.
