I have been absolutely amazed at the tools and methods you have shared so far on this channel but this takes the cake. Leave it to a crazy newfie to come up with such a simple and practical tool. Thanks again for sharing. I spent more than 20 years north of 60 and really hate snow.

Excelent idea,good for country home or an open area,not for standard city drive way,because usually we have to shovel the snow in a very reduce space area,but your idea is very good,1000 times better than snow blower,no more bussines.......

So awesome! My snowblower just seized up so I made myself one of your plows. It works great! Thanks so much!!
@Woodentoolcompany210 жыл бұрын
That's awesome. I would imagine a lot more will catch on to this as well. Just make sure you use light duty chain so that if you hit something solid it will just break a chain.

You should make some skids that lift the edge of the "blade" up when you are going forward then you don't drag as much snow on the reset. It could be as easy as 2x4 blocks on the backside corners of the blade

Can you attach this to back of truck and use with tailgate open
@BESTBBQDUDE10 жыл бұрын
If you attached castors or skids to the corners on the van side of the blade it would lift the blade enough that you wouldn't drag as much snow back when you go forward.

The limitation seems the traction of fwd, 4wd could do way more before slipping. Don’t know if you could do chains on a fwd car.
@mdocod3 жыл бұрын
Cables would fit fine, and would probably produce more useful traction for this sort of work than an AWD version of the minivan.

I was going to get a small plough for my suv (Hyundai Tuncon 2.0L AWD) but my mechanic told me my gearbox is not designed for that sort of use. Not sure if that applies to other suvs and minivans but maybe you could put your gearbox under unnecessary strain
@joescheller66805 жыл бұрын
hey guy did you see hes on a very slippery surface no chains or extra weight the weight of the vehicles momentum is doing the work, tranny will last for ever no problem and its an old beater he doesn't care,mostly the old beaters just keep on plowing away

It's actually 2 sheets of plywood 72 x 34 screwed together. Your not the only one getting snow. I'm supposed to get 30+ cm today. Glad I got some new tires! I might shoot another video of this later and include more details of how i made it and how I hooked everything up.

Are you concerned that the impact might set off the airbag or does your van have one?!
@Woodentoolcompany210 жыл бұрын
I did think of that when I first started plowing with this but since Setting it up I've hit some crazy solid stuff,enough to stop the van in its tracks and nothing although I have broke a chain a few times since this video, so the week point is the chains which is a good thing. That's the thing to do, use light duty chains
@RetiredCanadian10 жыл бұрын
Should not set off airbag as force is being applied to rear of vehicle, where there is no sensers
@nobuckle4010 жыл бұрын
I bet that voids any warranty on the van. Cool Idea though. I can't help but think about how much shorter the life of the van will be. It's got to be tough on the transmission.
@heliarche10 жыл бұрын
The way he's going it doesn't look too bad. I'd think that doing his driveway once would be sort of like towing a car a hundred miles over slightly hilly land. It's when people ram the shit out of the piles and go for all it's worth, especially pushing uphill, that wrecks the vehicle. Yea, it's not made for it, but he's taking it pretty easy on it. It looks like he's not doing much more than coasting and the weight of the van itself is doing most of the work with some occasional wheelspin. Also it might void the warranty but he said it's an old work van so it's likely not covered anymore. Still, think of it this way. Just trying to bull that thing out through and unplowed driveway is going to be much harder on it than what he's doing.
