Someone mentioned that the sharp screeching in the music is Odolwa blowing a death whistle in an attempt to psych out Link before their battle.

A temple styled after Mesoamerican cultures was somehow a thing I always knew would appear in a Zelda game that I still did not expect to appear in the series, specially not Majora's Mask
@Mark3nd2 жыл бұрын
You mean Mayan?
@theraymunator2 жыл бұрын
@@Mark3nd No, because although Odolwa speaks mayan, the overall design of the temple doesn't have a specific culture it got it's inspiration from. It actually mostly resembles cultures from the pre classic and early classic period like olmecs, toltecs, teotihuacans, and yes, mayans more than it does something like the aztecs, but it's still somewhat ambiguous. It seems as if you don't actually know a lot about this, so allow me to explain. Mesoamerica is a historical region of America (the continent, I hate having to clarify this every time when speaking english) which extends from central Mexico to northern Costa Rica and is where most of the cultures from ancient Mexico thrived. This is where most of the aesthetic which people asociate with aztecs and mayans comes from since those two cultures were arguably the most prominent in the area, specially later on by the time the spaniards had come to conquer the land, but there are many things like the giant olmec heads or those things from Oaxaca which I can't remember the name of but basically look like staircases mixed with spirals, those aren't mayan or aztec, and belong to other cultures. Woodfall temple has those kinds of elements which are not exclusive to one or two cultures, which is why I consider it was influenced by Mesoamerica in general and not just the mayans.

Deku tree from OOT was easier and worked better as a ''tutorial'' this one is a full temple, and was harder to get into.
@kwpineda56632 жыл бұрын
True the first 3 Temples in OoT are meant as tutorials. The game mechanics were completely different from past Zelda games. Like Z-Targeting. The Forest temple is the actual first Temple to present a challenge. But Majora's Mask was intended for players who already completed OoT so no need for handholding anymore.
