NS got one hell of a bargain with these old girls, a testament to the worth and solidity of the original design. Never saw one in operation in the UK but the remaining Dutch loco was parked outside Rotterdam station when I visited some years ago.

No. But there is one locomotive which is from a museum organisation. One time per year there is a ride with that loco in the Netherlands. ;)

I think the Netherlanders have a lot of time for our railways: Give them a break! Historically they are allies and so this may continue. They would have been a market for the 76s if we wanted. We should not have closed Woodhead bur converted it to 6.25kV ac and used class 81-85 over the route. Sorry, I don't want to be anti-social:-))))

What was the UK TOPS number of these locos?

They were Class 77 but never carried those numbers. They ran as E27000 to E27006
