You may have noticed that I didn't show the old 4X5 of the spot that I revisited. I had a quick look for it and couldn't find it so I suspect that perhaps I shot it with an old Pentax 6X7 camera. When I find it I'll post both for a comparison.

That scene at the creek, with the ferns and the two mossy trunks, is unbelievably beautiful. Would be great to see your old shot, but I definitely like the new one!

I did like the sea-stack images towards the end. I thought the one when you 1st arrived at the coast the b-roll taken from higher up with the people walking among the trunks would have made a nice picture but not sure with the wind blowing the plants in front of the camera.

That tree stump at 7: was amazing! You can’t beat the beauty of the Hoh rain forest with its moss covered trees and foliage. I loved the beach shots with the light behind the rock and the misty foggy shots look magical.

You do it everytime Adam, beautiful video . Really like the seashore stuff. Question , have you ever looked into the laurels of Madeira Portugal? I can see your work there in my mind. Beautiful subjects right up your alley. Thanks again Adam for taking us along, beautiful. Curious were you able to find the 4x5 of the shot in the video?

As always, wonderful photos Adam! I spend most of my time in dense woodlands in North Carolina and you provide great insights on how to see through to an image. I’ve noticed you often use long shutter speeds, such as the first photo… what is the reason? Thank you for all!

habit I think.I still cant wrap my head around using high iso even though the difference is minimal

It's difficult to take a good shoot there, no path and the light is too bright, I have to use my kase filters. But the paths were still difficult to find!

Love that image with the creek. In regards to diffraction, do you find medium format less affected by it? Thanks.
@QuietLightPhoto
@QuietLightPhoto Жыл бұрын
I use f/16 a lot with all of my current lenses and barely notice any issues. f/22 and up there will be some diffraction but its not a big deal
@silvere36
@silvere36 Жыл бұрын
@@QuietLightPhoto must be the medium format. Typically I don't like to go above f13 with FX. Your images don't suffer at all at f16.

Thank you for yet another inspiring video. I did pick up the 20-35 the other day and I am looking forward to see what i can come up with that. On that note, do you mind if I ask about the filter size you use? While I do own a screw on CPL I've been considering getting some ND filters for some long exposure work, but I am curious of how say the Kase filters would behave if stacked with regards to such a wide angle lens. A single 82 mm filter is probably all it should need to handle, but a CPL+ND combination it might not (i could simply just crop slightly if that was the case).
@QuietLightPhoto
@QuietLightPhoto Жыл бұрын
I just use the 82mm filters. The revolution magnetic filters work a charm. I believe Kase are coming out with a col + and combo so no need to stack but have no idea when or if it is out

Hey Adam, I almost forgot to ask. You're filming and photographing professionally in a US National Park - did you go through the elaborate permit process? If yes, can you elaborate in a video about that experience, cost, hurdles etc.? Thanks!
@L.Spencer
@L.Spencer Жыл бұрын
I learned about that in a photo class last year, I was surprised that one has to get permits to photograph in a public place. Maybe gob smacked is a better word. I would love to know how professionals handle it. I can't imagine trying to get a permit to take photos that someday might be sold, even though I'm not a professional yet. So confusing.

To be honest, I didn't actually know that was a thing? I can see it if you're filming with a crew, perhaps on a larger scale but an individual? That means Ben Horn has been illegally filming for what? 10 years unless he has a permit which I dought. Ok, now that if you do a workshop, you need a permit, which is good.
@thedarkslide
@thedarkslide Жыл бұрын
@@QuietLightPhoto the National Park Service is pretty clear on that. www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/filming.htm Since you (and anyone else with a monetized KZbin channel) generates income from the content, you’re supposed to get a permit.
