Hey Sandy, I have thoroughly enjoyed your videos since discovering your channel a couple years ago. After finding your "Comparing Portable Sawmills" video on youtube, then researching Woodland Mills along with many other manufacturers, I decided on the Max 130. Before watching your videos, I had never heard of Woodland Mills. In the year that I’ve owned my mill, I’ve found it to be an excellently engineered machine and I love making my own lumber with it. I hope Woodland Mills has thanked you ($$$) for the great videos you make about their products, and I thank you for sharing your adventures with the world! Best Regards, Vin in Montana

I bought a stump grinder from Woodland Mills and I love that thing. There were issues with the original shipper and the girls in the office there worked with me to get it fixed. They were great. I’ve been watching you and others for over a year now and I finally ordered a mill! It’s my first mill ever. I’m so excited about getting it. I wish Woodland mills would work on a easy way to roll and turn logs. I have a 126 and a big long log gives me a good workout to turn at 73 years old. I often thought a manual jack design would maybe work but Im not a engineer. Thanks for a great video.
@sawingwithsandy2 жыл бұрын

@johanneslaxell66412 жыл бұрын
Swedish Logosol has one possible solution. Would something like that be simple enough?
@mikechristensen97442 жыл бұрын
I too have had issues turning 1000+ pound logs(about 16 foot long by 20+ inch diameter)...but came up with a simplistic cheap way to do it. I had an old bumper jack that cars used to have. I added a chain with just the actual cant hook attached to it. The jack base is placed on the metal rails with the cant hook wrapped underneath the log. I simply jack it up and the log rolls easily around. A high-lift jack could also be used instead if need be. I will most likely add a way to set the jack bottom into a recess of some sort so that there won't be the worry of the jack possibly sliding off...but so far it never has even come close to doing so.
@bigcampnewyork35862 жыл бұрын
@@mikechristensen9744 that is a great idea. you might want to get a patient on that
@mikechristensen97442 жыл бұрын
@@bigcampnewyork3586 Thinking about it a bit more and I may do this. If I add another square log stop pocket on the opposite side of what is provided, I could use the hand winch that I made that emulates what Woodland Mills has to pull the logs onto the mill(with the ramp system). I could easily use that to turn the logs in much the same way as I use now but with the winch instead of the jack. This would be something that Woodland Mills could also easily add to their accessories that could be purchased. EDIT: I just looked at the Logosol accessory. The existing Woodland Mills' winch/ramp system will work with just the cant hook added to the winch hook already present(duh on my part! lol). I will try this next time as very simple for anyone to add to their mill. BTW, with large logs, I use the ramps as a safety feature by placing them inverted on top of the closer rail and on the ground under the far rail...if the log rolls back it will hit the ramp stops causing the opposite end to stop under the far rail and the curved part of the ramp(which is now upwards) and the slight angle of the straight part of the ramp to prevent the log from rolling off the mill towards you....which has happened one time so far and worked beautifully!

The vast majority of Woodland Mills products are manufactured offshore to their designs and specifications. Note that many other sawmill companies also source some or all of their product and/or many of their components offshore. i made a comment on your video about the log bunks i suggested you turn the bunk around to place the stop on opisite side
@sawingwithsandy2 жыл бұрын
Hey Curtis, that would work, the only reason I decided against this was because I like to have the blade pushing the log against the log stop as it rotates.

I made a short and tagged you, not sure if you seen it. I deleted it now. Was about the Woodland sharpener.

I was at ground zero when the tornado hit a month ago. Now I have a lot of clean up to do. Had to buy myself a tractor. And now I'm looking g at a chipper. Its only a 20 hp. 3 cyl. Now co slderi g a chipper. Do they have one that will run off my tractor.

Hey Ken! Hope everyone was safe during that tornado. They do make a smaller wc46 I believe it's called and it would go on your tractor

Shoot, I would’ve like one as well lol, but with the way things are going in today’s world and seeing the products they produce compared to their competitors, they are way above them for quality and pricing. I think Sandy should be getting some kickbacks, as I’m sure many of us newer bucks purchased because of Sandy’s videos, shoot at least t-shirts, hats etc lol

I saw the email about up and down motor. I think it needs two switches a fast and a slow or a speed dial otherwise it seems slow.

I’ll have to get one to try it out

Design only in Canada, made in China ?
@sawingwithsandy Жыл бұрын
I believe that is the case. I'm not too sure on the specifics of where they are manufactured however
@inspectr19495 ай бұрын
I know the WM products are made in China but where are they designed and engineered and by who?
@sawingwithsandy5 ай бұрын
There’s a team of engineers including the owners who are engineers and all work in Port Perry Ontario
