Woodlands & Goldfields Ep1 - Elachbutting Rock, Mt Jackson, Overland, Camping, 4x4, 4WD

Welcome to the next series of Great off-Road Adventures, come along and explore the vast, historic and amazing WA Woodlands and Goldfields.
In Ep1 we head out from Perth and spend a cold but amazing night at Lake Brown, before visiting some rocky outcrops on the way out to the abandoned Mt Jackson homestead.

Haha, good to see my family names in the visitor book at the Mt Jackson homestead. We were there with Millsy, can't believe that's 10 years ago now. It was a great trip back then. Time to make plans to head back some day. I subscribed to your channel a while ago now, making my way through the videos when I get the chance.

I had my remap, lock up kit and trans remap in my 200 series done last august by AMV Automotive in Perth on my way up the west coast, Nice peeps them... theyd remember me. I have a few vids on youtube.. feel free to look when bored. Gleno.

Hi Graham, I am trying to find the Sand plains track after you left Elachbutting Rock. Do you have any map or directions the way you went.?

You have to follow the outside of the farmers paddocks until you hit the track....a satelite image will make sense

Big price differences between the two....as we touched on in the review video, were only looking to use it for 3-4yrs then we’ll likely be towing a camper, so longevity isn’t a massive concern for us.

Funny, every 4wd driver who does this sort of trips in their promo will tell you one does not need much mod cons or expensive vehicle, yet every vehicle presented has had over $100000 spent on them to modify almost everything. That simply means ancillary supplies either sponsor these programs and provide all their gear for free for promotion or the people earn more than they spend. This leaves an ordinary family to go no further than a local national park and a few fire trails as a day trip or max overnight trip and keep believing an illusion the great Australian outback is there for the taking! The truth is the time and money spent to get aywhere and create pollution it is far better to fly to the nearest destination and drive around a shorter distance - will still cost less.
