Thanks Randy, you’ll be glad you did the laser. I bet I’ve found 8-10 uses for it. Wire number 25 is the one installed on the machine for the laser. It’s wrapped up with the drawback motor wires. Good luck and thanks for watching.

I like your set up. I can see you are a tinkerer and enjoy tinkering with things. You sure came up with some good stuff to do to your sawmill, and your workplace. I have an LT-35, non hydraulic and I have put a couple of modifications on my sawmill that help me a lot, but by no means, have I done what you have done!!!! Great job, and great job explaining what you did and why.

Have you had any issues running your laser from the 12v to 5v 3A step down converter? I bought the same laser and converter and the laser was DOA and was caused by the converter. They are saying I need a 5v 1A power supply which doesn’t make any sense. Thanks for making the video.
@oldbluffsawmill5235 Жыл бұрын
Dave Make sure to check the wiring on the transformer. There is an input side and output side. I would then disconnect it from the laser, start your sawmill and engage the blade. Then check the output voltage from the transformer. It should not be much over 5 volts. The sawmill alternator is the power supply, the transformers job is to reduce it. I’m hoping it’s just a bad converter. Let me know what you find. My email is wbsimms@comcast.net and phone is 706-252-1357 call or email me anytime.
@DavesSawmillService-ym3yl Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. The laser is being installed on a Norwood HD36V2 and the converter is going to be connected directly to the battery. I tested the converter on a 12v power supply and the output was 5.1 volts. So I think the converter is good. They’re sending me a new laser. I will let you know how I make out.
@oldbluffsawmill5235 Жыл бұрын
Sounds like the laser was bad. Yeah let me know how it works out for you Dave
@DavesSawmillService-ym3yl Жыл бұрын
Finally got the laser installed. As recommended by the manufacturer, I used a 12v to 5v 1A converter. They were pretty adamant about the 1A. Anyway I got it mounted and working. Thank you for your video. 😊

Great video. Didn’t even know there was a greasable bearing on the up/down! I’ll have to see if my lt40 has it!

@leeskithree2 жыл бұрын
I have a LT35HD and didn't know about the bearings that you pointed out, I will have to take a look and see if I'm forgetting any. On your dust collecting system, Why don't you hook up another IBC tote like the water collecting system and have the dust just go into that so its not blowing all over the place, just a suggestion bud. You have one of the best setups that I have seen, good job
@oldbluffsawmill52352 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Looee, I have customers and friends that take the sawdust for animal pens. I’m in the process of getting some clear vinyl to cover the opening though. This will stop it from blowing back into the building. Thanks for watching

Question: i'm shopping around for a mill. i'd like to know what's the smallest Woodmizer model that you could use in your particular operation if you were on a strict, beginner's budget? i can't spring for a 50 at this time. --Thankx

When I saw how enclosed your building is I thought it's got to be an electric motor. How are you not choking yourself out on fumes on a stagnant day? Our even wrong wind direction? I've got 3 sides on mizer shed completely open & under right (or wrong) circumstances get a mouth full of exhaust! Maybe you can run a piece of 20' sewer pipe outside to extend blower? Even if on a swivel & lightweight bi pod if you need to drive beside building?
@oldbluffsawmill52352 жыл бұрын
I’ve never had an issue with that James. My eave height is 12’ on the building and the muffler tail piece is turned forward (away from the operator side), but I understand your concerns and appreciate your watching and comment. When I open those two 10’x14’ doors I get good ventilation thru the building. I enjoy your comments, keepem coming. Thanks again

Before you said you made the bracket for adjusting the up and down belt tension, I said to myself, ‘why don’t you just adjust the turnbuckle’ lol. Nice job and great video. Do you have the part numbers for the reduced pulley size and smaller belt for the up/down mod? We would love to try this on our mill.
@oldbluffsawmill52352 жыл бұрын
There was no turnbuckle until I put the tensioner on. Is you messing with me?
@oldbluffsawmill52352 жыл бұрын
I’ll get it for you. This is a dangerous modification, so be advised. Rig up your belt tensioning first so you’ll have that out of the way. Ace hardware has the pulleys and belts in stock .(usually) I’ll get you the numbers tomorrow. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Not a good time to try to buy a mill right now. Tried to order an LT70 Wide last month and was told that even if I brought them a check I was looking at a wait of 65-72 months before they could deliver the mill.
