Using an unvented propane heater inside the cabin will cause condensation which then leads to mold and mildew. I found this out the hard way in my workshop. Cabin is looking great!!

I just love how truly “real” you are. Also, how fun you are. I don’t know what your ultimate plans for the cabin are BUT I hope it’s a lifetime family cabin and that you don’t turn it into an air B&B. This should be all about family dynamics & family memories. YOU WON’T REGRET THAT - EVER‼️No more windows. A little vent window for the bathroom (tiny window) or the memories of an outhouse. Outhouses stink for sure but the family conversations down-the-road will be priceless. Live, Laugh, be lively ‼️‼️‼️

Woop! Woop! yeah buddy it looks great👍keeping the pattern all the way up makes the look complete. Not too bad for a semi professional, middle aged man from Canada Lol Graeme you really don't need any more windows, keep a wall for a wood stove and maybe a feature wall. Great video, looking forward to the next one. Take care and God bless😇🇨🇦🇺🇲

Great job on the cabin, don't be to hard on yourself. I'm 62 and you give me great inspiration to start my little cabin build in our woods here in Virginia. About woodstoves. I follow KZbinrs Trout and Coffee. In their most recent post they are at his Mom and Dad's. Take note of their woodstove. Soapstone, Swedish design, slim. Maybe something like this would work great in the center of your cabin. Takes up less space and is a beautiful piece. Just throwing an idea. Keep up the great work!

31:36 I am not sure if you local stream (down by the parking) has boulders or rocks in it or maybe you can get some from the ground around the cabin, but a rock and cement chimney stack build outside against the west wall would be very nice... Also it would not take too much square footage away from the inside of the cabin since the fire place would be pretty much set in the wall...

If you're looking for another project, then the chimney idea sounds good - but putting a stovepipe out the sidewall and using a small (all you'd need) wood stove, that could be put away if space is needed in the warmer months - isn't a bad idea. Either way, I look forward to seeing the whole family there enjoying the finished project in the spring!

Looking great Graham! 👍🏻 I may suggest you use Aluminum Facia Capping for your Gables and straight runs for Eavestrouph. You could get it made/bent to the measurements you want possibly at a siding business or Contractor. Get Black colour to go with the Windows and roof. Screw it on and it's Maintenance free !
@WoodnessGoodness4 сағат бұрын
That is a great idea. I'm always looking for easier maintenance!
@augustinewoodworksworktune2113 сағат бұрын
@WoodnessGoodness southern Ontario Canada viewer here ! 🤘🏻🇨🇦 You will want to have a separate different Cap Fascia peice on the peak of your Gables because of the way you put in the last wood soffit peice. Since it's not an upside down V anymore. Start with your straight eavestrouph lengths first. Then start on the Gable ends - starting at the bottom and ending at the peak. Overlapping the above peices for water run off ! Over lap like 3 inches. Maybe take pictures and have measurements as well to get them Bent/made. You may want a "J " shape Fascia Cap for your straight eavestrouph lengths. So it covers the angled soffit about 3/4" to 1". Hope this helps.

Definitely don’t need any more windows. But the very front looks awesome with the windows you have. You’re doing an awesome job and the average person‘s eyes are not gonna catch your little flaws because if you go look at it, Home built by a contractor, I can pick out things on my home. So nothing is perfect, but just looking pretty beautiful and pretty close to perfect.

So when I had my mountain house in Western North Carolina I was ALWAYS hauling stuff back and forth (furniture, food coolers, trash bags, clothes, etc.). I had a small pickup (Tacoma) which worked very well, except when it rained. Graeme, you might consider your next project to be something you can use to haul stuff back and forth that is covered or enclosed. You have a lot of experience buidling your materials trailer and small RV so it would seen a natural extension of that knowledge. Perhaps something that could be fitted inside the materials trailer and removed if you needed the trailer for lumber, plywood, etc. Just an idea!

The male end on your nail gun needs to be the other style. There are 2 styles of barbed ends, they are the same size and look really similar. But it looks like you have the less aggressive retainer on the male end and the female end on your hose needs the more aggressive shelf for the ball retainer. Hard to explain, I know, but if you put them side by side you can see that the shelf that the balls lock on is different. Hope that made sense... Love the build, looking forward to the next episode!
