Lots of good setups! I prefer the hammock it sure does spoil a guy I don't want anything to do with sleeping on the ground anymore.

No worries mate its good to see an instructional video that shows not only how to put up a basha correctly without the people in it getting wet,but also a variety of different types of shelter. The one by the tree brings back memories cos until youve squatted by a tree dithering with only a poncho/basha for comfort you havent lived. Once again thanks for the vid mate.

Method 8 looks like the best set up for stealth camping, Its easy to set up, Its low to the ground and if your close to being discovered you can just easily get up and move without taking anything down

Yes if its really cold. The smaller size will hold in more body heat. Block the ends with your backpack and other kit. The real importance would be protection from the cold ground and a sheltered site from the wind. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for comment. We do have a website but we don't sell any items through it, only our courses. There are a load of places you can pick stuff up from online. As I always say to people, you are better learning how to use things from around you rather than relying on things that can get lost or forgotten. I will be posting some more stealth camping vids up soon. Just need to find time to get then sorted into some order. Thanks again. Take care.

thanks for the video, i've used most of these methods over the last 20 years, generally i throw a basha up in a lean too or ridgeline, ... but am very adaptable, which is why i like using a tarp, the only time i used a tent i had the local warden out looking for me,

Thats some creative tarp camping. But I will keep using my tent. I camp in some mosquito infested areas and I get bit enough hiking. A tent keeps animals away and makes me feel safe. Oddly most tents are bright colors that dont blend in.

Very well done. I'm not out to "hide", I'm out to blend in and make nature look like nature. And that goes for nature itself by not damaging it or changing the looks of the wild. I don't worship nature but respect what God has given us. Your hammock used as a ground tent is the first I've seen of that idea. Love it. I don't have such a hammock...yet. God bless and thanks again for your ideas in your vid

Very cool ideas. Like any Monty Python fan, i too know the advantages of not being seen. Though i admit i would have loved to see some improvised camouflage techniques included. If you've ever been to The States you would be delighted how indistinguishable the forests of Pennsylvania are from where you filmed this! i miss my DPM trousers and smock... ): Never got around to buying a surplus Basher though. Is the rucksack also British military issue? i would love to see a review of it and similar Personal Load Carrying Equipment. Good video! Thumbs up! Cheers!

Big tip. Before you do, look up "Cold butt syndrome" first. I always carry my hammock, a bivvi bag and tarp. That way I have a choice as to how/where I sleep. However I always use a sleep mat for them all. Once you get that bit sorted the rest is a sweet, warm sleep. Thanks for watching ATB

Thanks for watching. Its always hard to film and take pictures of things well hidden. If i was to film thing hidden properly, no one would see what I was talking about. I'm only left with showing the set-up in the open so it can be seen easily. I have the same problem with showing a ghillie suit, everyone says "but i can still see him" I'm stuck between the rock and the hard place so opt to keep it in the open. I will be doing some more filming of stealth camping where i will show the set-ups hidden as well.

Anything that will let you blend in. Not only do you need to think about not being seen but also not making yourself a target to street crime. Pick something that can be set up very quickly in the dark. Set up late (just when you intend to sleep) and then pack up and move out the moment you wake. Pick a location that takes you away from peoples eyes. Grey is a good camouflage colour for urban locations but I would still look for some bush/tree cover. ATB

Thanks for the comment. The truth is I didn't plan to do this vid. I was in the woods and had the camera. It was just thrown together without any real thinking, plan or script. Hi, Thanks for watching. Its a Hennessy Hammock. They make a number of hammocks from light weight to more rugged. They are very well made and you can mod them up with loads of extra bits to make them better in colder weather (even below freezing) ATB

Method 5 could simply be adjusted better instead of 50/50, I'd go 70 top/ 30 bottom. Or 60/40 even. Great video with simple items needed.

Good Video. What about a Video on good tents for Stealth Camping.
@WoodoakWilderness
@WoodoakWilderness 10 жыл бұрын
That would be a long vid. There are many great tents on the market (and some not so great) The best tent (as with everything else you choose to carry) is the one that works for you. The right weight, size (packed), and price. how easy it is to put up and take down. The right colour, size (when put up) Spend some time looking into tents before you commit to buying one. A built in ground sheet will keep the bugs out as with one with bug netting on the door. The rest is purely your own choice. Best of luck.

@WoodoakWilderness

Its a Hennessy Hammock Deluxe expedition. It can be used much lower than 40 as long as you use some form of padding to stop chilly butt syndrome. Check out Shugemery channel for more info on this. (he covers everything you need to know) The HH is a great hammock (just my opinion) there are loads of hammocks out there so look into loads before you choose which one works for you. ATB

If your on a budget, i got a hammock from a company called "Tenth Wonder". Its small and light, cost me £15 and its a great nights sleep. It is only a simple hammock but put it with a tarp, its a good starting point. check out "wildsoul62" video "a spring day in the woods" to see one in use. Hope it helps.

if you want to stealth camp dig a hole put trees over the top and some bush over that
@WoodoakWilderness
@WoodoakWilderness 10 жыл бұрын
That goes against the "leave no trace" rule. A lot of work to scatter the soil from your digging so its not found. That would also leave a leg breaker if someone or something falls into it later down the line. However that would make a good survival shelter, as long as its not in a place that would fill with water. atb.
