I purchased a new Woods Equipment RT72.40 72" forward rotation rototiller. My old tiller worked well but was only a 60" and did not cover my tracks. The tiller was still in the crate, which saved me money, but that meant it required some assembly. Come along as I assemble the new tiller and test it behind my Kubota L3560 Grand L tractor.

Just did this exact process and same head scratching on the bolts, but had the right ones in the end.

Those unused holes on top of the gear box on mine was drilled and tapped all the way through. So i ended up plugging them as rain was getting in the gearbox.

Nice video! Attention to detail with excellent explanations. I have an L6060 ,and this video showed me I can put just about any 3 point behind it. Thank you.

I’ve had a Woods 48” behind a Kubota BX2660 for 12 years, I put more hours on my tiller in one year than most people would in a lifetime. I’ve only had to replace the main tiller bearings once in the twelve years, the tiller is rock solid. The BX has plenty of power for the reverse rotation tiller. I primarily do lawn and garden work.

Thanks. It did. I’m pretty happy with it. I wouldn’t mind if it was a little heavier though. It can bounce a bit on hard soil.

I have the exact same tiller that I use on my L4701. Very happy with it. I had to replace one tine on it after tilling up a big food plot because the field was full of rocks but other than that it has been an awesome tiller.

Love my tiller. Landpride 72” behind A 55hp Case tractor. The slower I go the better it does. If I go to fast it will get a little washboardy. Then I have to drag it.

Great shoot under the deck. Never saw one like that. On the China gearboxes you can put on 90 degree filler with a vent cap - makes adding the lube like the other gear box. Nice post. Thanks. Bob in Nevada

Thanks!! I had an old China one and it would’ve been nice to have a filler like you described. I’ll keep that in mind for any of my other implements.

I have the woods rt60.4 behind a Kubota b2650. 25 engine hp and right around 20 pto hp. Does a great job and I am impressed with my tiller as well. I did have a few tines loosen up after an hour or so of use so that is one thing that I should have checked after the first use. The dealer assembled mine so all I did was cut the pto shaft. Very happy that I went with the Woods as opposed to something from Tractor Supply or another off brand. I always know I will have parts support long down the road from Woods.

Thanks for the info. I’ll have to make sure to check my tines when I get it out next time.

There all the same that have that logo on the gearbox, mine says oregon from TSC but same tiller. They are actually built by US manufacture Blount

The engineer that designed the collar pto latch should be made to do that for 8 hours straight to help him on future designs. LOL Engineers and people with business websites obviously do not try to use their products. Nice tiller. Thanks

Definitely not my favorite either. I’d rather have the sliding pin style.

I’ve got a tractor supply county line 6ft tiller. Been really pleased with it. I bought it because it was the only one you can swap from forward to reverse tine and it was really well priced. Though after I read the directions on how to change rotation I’ll never do it. My L3540HSTC pulled it just fine. Only 6ft implement the 3540 didn’t have the power for was a 6ft brush hog. I sold that tractor to my brother when I bought the L6060 and he purchased a 5ft cutter for it after running it with my 6ft.

My previous tiller was a King Kutter and it was made well. Surprisingly, when I started to look at wider tillers the KK was more than the Woods.
@braxtonwiggins6576
@braxtonwiggins6576 2 жыл бұрын
@@JaredsShop The county line which is made by tarter I believe was a lot cheaper than a Landpride. I paid around $1799.00 for it a couple years ago. Figured I’d sell it and buy a new every 4-5years instead of having to replace tines. I have nothing bad to say about it and would buy another.
@JaredsShop
@JaredsShop 2 жыл бұрын
@@braxtonwiggins6576 I’m thinking Tartar makes county line but KK used to make their own. That could have changed though.

I have a Woods 48" behind a Yanmar SA324, 24 hp. It's a nice tiller and the tractor has no problem running it. I noticed in the Woods document it says do not engage the PTO until the tines are touching the ground because it can take a sudden jolt from a rock, etc...Any thoughts on this. Thanks for the video.
@JaredsShop
@JaredsShop 2 жыл бұрын
I prefer to engage the tiller in the air so it’s easier on the tractor. It’s harder on the tractor to engage the tiller when it’s on the ground. If anything is going to take abuse I’d rather it be the tiller over the tractor.

FYI when you greased the side bearing or spindle support bearing you actually filled a recessed area that the bearing occupies. Ask me how I know😁
@JaredsShop
@JaredsShop 2 жыл бұрын
There has to be a large recess for the amount of grease I had to pump into there. It must be by design as the grease did finally come out. Did you remove the cap?

How many HP tractor do you need for a 84 inch woods tiller

Does you tractor have an HST transmission? What is your soil like?
@dave_1958
@dave_1958 2 жыл бұрын
@@JaredsShop it does have HST so I’m still hesitant on the 72 inch but the soil has been broken for the past 2 years in a garden. I’m making runs today to try and locate a 60in again. My local dealer is great enough to let me try the 72 to see if it works and will let me return it if it is too much load 👏
@JaredsShop
@JaredsShop 2 жыл бұрын
@@dave_1958 The nice thing about an HST is that you can keep the RPMs up yet drive slow and give the tiller time to work. You don’t have to get in a hurry. I bet it will work fine.
