It blows my mind! How ridiculously tight the little bolts and screws are on some of the saws i work on. Yes, I am well aware that there are some stuff that needs locktite blue on them But magnesium and aluminum are easily warped when over tightened. Not to mention, They were so mass produced with very mild quality control over the tolerances back in the day. At least that's what I'm gathering with each chainsaw i tear into of my collection of around 60saws. I have been knocking the high spots on my sealing surfaces with 150 sandpaper, And then go back over it with a handheld Honeing stone with a squirt of WD-40 and polish the gasket mating surface until its flat. I find that I get much better results from doing this as apposed to relying on just a gasket to keep things sealed! And believe me! I have ran across some crazy stuff that got out the doors of the manufacturing plant! The last one was a homelite 330 that I got ahold of recently. The saw has very low working hours on it but like all 330 homelites, The intake boot has a hole rotted through it from the Benzene in pump fuel. But what i found while removing the carburetor and intake plate was a broken off end of the tap that they used to thred the hole that holds the carburetor to the plate! The saw probably ran like s%#t right out of the box! Due to the broken off piece down inside the hole was acting as a stop,Not allowing the bolt that holds the carburetor down to go deep enough into the hole to hold one side of the carburetor down causing a big vacuum leak! And it appears that it was never diagnosed and the owner of the new saw finally gave up and put it back in its case and jumped on the hater of homelites train since 1983 when he purchased it and couldn't get it to perform properly right from the first pull🤨

Hey Tinman, such great information here! Love it. At our place we have foxes as well, and we do have livestock. But I really don’t mind them it’s those darn coyotes and mountain lions that are a bane for us. I lived in the city for the first 20 years of my life. I’ve spent the last 20 years avoiding it as much as possible. We live in a community with a population of 42 and not much has changed for us with distancing or lock downs. Except maybe the speed of mail. I’ve got 2 more saws coming next week, I hope but we’ll see how UPS is doing. (Yes I have a problem) haha! But I’m pretty sure a vac tester will be on the soon to purchase list. Thus far I just take my best guess that it’s leaking and pull out the good old carb cleaner. I usually have a messy saw bench. But I always feel compelled to clean it before shooting a video. I know that’s not a realistic view. But somehow it’s a compulsion.

The mitivac silver line kit comes with a spark plug nipple. And don't forget to check your fuel before doing the ol flip test. I was fussing because a saw was stumbling when flipped one way. It had less than 1/8 of a tank of fuel in it. Ive never been that far up north but I've been to the great plains in Nebraska. It was kind of wild how flat things really are out there

I’m working on a Husky 2100 and it is a pain in the butt right now! I’ve tested the carb it holds pressure and has new carb kit installed but it won’t stay running soon as I push the choke in. I’ve cleaned muffler and I’ve even tried running it with out the muffler but still dies. Has ton of compression brand new rings and piston. Could it be a electrical problem? Not sure how to check grounding issues.
@jeremylyons62523 жыл бұрын
So it runs until you push the choke in? If it does run until you take choke off and then dies it means you have a fuel issue. I'd say it's starving for fuel

If you tilt a saw forward(bar down) and it stalls, is that flooding? Low jet too rich? Great video! Now I need a vac pump.

Foxes are a big problem in Australia being introduced. We have a lot of small marsupials which they and cats are wiping out. There have been cases where they will chew the teats and tales off cows for a quick feed. They get no love from farmers down here, no foxes in Tassie fortunately.
