DOH!!!!!! I have this welder and was specifically looking for a vid with someone who did a wire replacement and had some trick to dealing with the spool feed till fully rigged up and ready to use. Then your wire sprung back. All jokes aside, im going to do mine now.thanks for the vid.

Thanks for the video. I haven’t welded in years. I was a certified high pressure pipe welder many years ago, and changed trades. I have always wanted to get back into it as a hobby, and couldn’t pass up the sale at CT. 👍

What do you recommend for extension cord gage and how long the extension should be before loosing power
@woodsarmoury9 ай бұрын
That is a really good question (maybe an idea for a future video). I do use heavy duty 12g cords, but dont think I have gone much further that 15-20 ft away from a 20amp plug. You will definitely loss some performance/power if using a long cord... but how much I cant really say.

First timer here and the spool uncoiled. Is it possible to use or risk of jamming is too high?
@woodsarmoury2 жыл бұрын
Id remove the outer coils and try to spool the rest and then try it maybe. Ive never had a spool significantly "un-coil" so Im not sure.

would you suggest this as a beginner unit? also does it run off of 15amp ?
@woodsarmoury3 жыл бұрын
Most experienced welders would say you should learn stick-welding first, then move up to MIG. That said, this machine is pretty basic and affordable so I'd say yes its good for beginners. It will run off 15amp...

Thank you for this video. So there is a different collar to buy for flux core welding that isn't supplied in the kit? Can the flux core specific collar be purchased from CT also?
@woodsarmoury3 жыл бұрын
I think you can get the tip at CT. PeavyMart and Princess Auto might be options. You can use the standard (included tip) for flux core too
@tonyriley45853 жыл бұрын
@@woodsarmoury thanks for the reply. I have both those other places mentioned in my area too.
@neilwillford62013 жыл бұрын
Where did you get the nozzle? I bought this welder but didn't come with a nozzle like that
@woodsarmoury3 жыл бұрын
Welding section at CT. Or Peavy mart. It’s for flux core.
@mysteryman327683 жыл бұрын
Is it a mastercraft nozzle or will a different make work?
@woodsarmoury3 жыл бұрын
@@mysteryman32768 I think it is universal. You don’t need the tip for flux core... the included tip works fine too, but is designed for use with shielding gas, so it’s bulky.
@GmGarlo3 жыл бұрын
can you put a 10 lb spool on it? because in the manual it says you can put a 4" or 8" size spool, is the 8" the 10 lb spool?
@woodsarmoury2 жыл бұрын
You can put a larger spool on, but not sure of the weight.
@Justinjeyakrishna Жыл бұрын
How do you actually turn it on so fire comes out to melt the weld
@woodsarmoury Жыл бұрын
Id recommend you check out my other videos on this welder for more info... But short answer, make sure the ground clamp is attached to your work, you then use the trigger to start the wire feed which will contact your work piece and start the weld arc.
@stevedenman219910 ай бұрын
So Im guessing for thin metal like 24 gauge I would set on lowest heat,and slow feed🤔
@woodsarmoury10 ай бұрын
Yes that is the idea. For stuff that thin you will probably need .23 wire for a good weld... .30 fluxcore wire is going to be tricky. You will wanna practice alot.

Nice video man, mine keeps jamming up but it’s also -45 here, can’t get my cord straightened out enough 😂
@woodsarmoury2 жыл бұрын
yeah thats cold. check the roller to make sure its on the correct side for the wire diameter your using. Also a corroded or dirty tip will cause feed issues.

@@woodsarmoury it’s a brand new welder just got it for Christmas, it almost made it to the tip but got stuck somewhere right before it sadly! I brought it inside to warm up till my heater is fixed in the garage! Love the channel man I just subscribed, if you like off road stuff check mine out 😎
@woodsarmoury2 жыл бұрын
@@BradleyBeeksAdventures this does happen from time to time. I assume you have removed copper tip. Sometimes I have to gently bend the tip of the wire so about an inch or so is perfectly straight.

Good question. Not sure. I think working in "Inch Per Min" is a little advance for what this unit was designed for. I generally keep my speed set around 6-7

something tells me, the right amount of tension on the spool prevents the spool from uncoiling...just a thought...so, it has to be secured in the other places as well, with more tension than the spool - otherwise it will slip, when pulling forward... reading through the instruction manual...pain in the ass; it's like they're trying to torture you or something...
@woodsarmoury4 ай бұрын
Its not that hard once you get the hang of it. Get the wire locked between the feed rollers and you are good... I do that first, then worry about getting the spoon nut on.

i dont how to take out the excess wire i need to change a new wire
@woodsarmoury4 ай бұрын
Grab the spool with one hand so it doesn’t uncoil and cut wire just before feed motor. Wrap some tape around the spool so it doesn’t uncoil. Undo the drive wheels… and pull remaining wire out through the tip of the gun.
@bobetization4 ай бұрын
@@woodsarmoury i already figured it out, you need to released the lock on the end then pulled with plier, very simple, thanks
