Thank you so much for your very detailed and thorough explanation. My sister passed away in October and her chime strings were rotted. They have been sitting on my dining room table for six months and I am finally prepared to tackle them. Your video was invaluable! I just hung her chimes up again and it will make me think of her often. Much appreciation.

This is so amazing,thank you! For so long I’ve wanted an instruction on how to restore my beloved windchimes.......... I’ve saved all the parts hoping that some day someone could show me how to do it and voila: you just did! Brilliant video, so clear what to do and how to do it. Nice calm voice and so cool with your website, where the templates can be downloaded. I’m a happy bunny right now, giving new life to my old, weatherbeaten chimes. Only problem is your website is far too dangerous for a windchime-afficionado as myself 😄 Greetings from Denmark, Scandinavia 💕

How can I make my chimes more sensitive to the wind? I was thinking of hanging the pendulum a bit lower, but I'll await your response. Thanks for the video.
@WoodstockChimes
@WoodstockChimes 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Willi, The windcatchers are designed for optimal performance, so it's best not to tinker with the design but instead to try them out in different locations to see where you get the most action from your chime. Also, be sure not to hang them from a chain or other extender, which can cause a pendulum effect, but hang them directly on a hook. If you like, please contact our warranty/refurbishing department at refurbish@chimes.com, tell them which chime you have and where it's hanging and see if they have any further suggestions for you. I hope that helps!

This video is very helpful. What isn't helpful is the supplies provided to repair the wind chime at home. The wood is so hard that the staples would not go through it. They were the 1/2" staples I've used to more aggressive projects just fine. While I love that the wood is hard and will stand up to the elements, it is not good for the recommended way of repairing at home. I ended up using nails to secure the string for the tubes which did not seem to secure the string great even though I wrapped it around the nail as the directions recommended, but we'll see how long it lasts.. Ended up bending two of those and the ultimate frustration was when the center screw hook provided by Woodstock Chimes broke halfway through screwing it into the wood topper. Next time I'll call or re email them to have them fix it for me. They didn't respond to my first email request for the cost of repair. :-( Love their chimes, but not this part of the service they provide.

How do you thread the chimes so easily ? Getting the braid in is easy but getting it through to the other side is not. Are you using a needle if so what size. I haven’t found one with an eye big enough to take the braid but small enough to get through the stringing holes. I have just bought an additional set and see that, sadly, they are now made in China. I need to restring - for the first time - my original Neptunes bought maybe 30 years ago. I bet they won’t last as long !

This would have been easy to follow IF it had worked for my chimes. Unfortunately, after attaching everything, the tubes did not hang down - I was left with a giant starfish. I had to cut all the string and redo it with a lot of slack and then didn't have enough string left for the clapper. No one else seems to have this issue, but maybe the holes in my tubes were further down than this example? don't know, but ... now I just need to order more string

@WoodstockChimes
@WoodstockChimes 6 жыл бұрын
Hi French Toast, We used an Arrow brand staple gun in this video, but Bostich and Stanley are similar and can handle the job. I'm told that it's important to use at least a half-inch staple, or a longer staple for a larger chime. Measure the thickness of the top wood piece and use the longest staple that will not go all the way through. I hope that helps!

Hello, I'm commenting here to test whether my comments will appear to you. You commented on my call to the atheist experience, and I'd be interested to respond, but it seems invisible when I'm logged out. I wrote to you there: Hi, thanks for the book recommendation. You rightly say that there's complexity (I believe boundless complexity) to the profound quality we can experience through music, yet equally it has a boundless simplicity and primality. We don't need to know the intricacies of Bach's structures to appreciate fully his music's beauty, a young child can appreciate it fully. We cannot deny either view, yet they're in total contradiction. I see this contradiction as a reflection of the frailty of our language to express, not as any sign that the profound quality we experience isn't real.
