Woodstove with barrel stove kit - Firebarrel.nl

No knife this time but iam working on one.....
I bought a fire barrel kit to make my own stove to have for in the garden.
Man this thing is heavy duty bomb proof but as you can see in the slide show i made it in a small barrel because the garden is mall and i have no room for a big barrel.
I made a grid inside and a flame trap or spark arrester don't know the correct name but it is working superb.
Treated the barrel with eclair noir some special stove coating and it look awsome .
First burn killed my stove pipe as you can see but i bought the heavy duty 2 mm carbon steel pipe.

Why did you put that baffle inside at the flue opening? Have your tried it with and without the baffle to see what difference it makes?

***** Thanks Odd, This barrel stove build is just for fun en to play with fire in my garden :-)The barrels size is 60cm long and 40cm in diameter. The kit consists of a front plate with rear ring.(door 30X35cm) A flange ring for the stovepipe two steel legs 4 big washers and all necessary bolts with nuts. i paid €120 +€6 shipping for the kit. The barrel i bought for €18 new at a local barrel shop.I also have 1mtr fire rope and eclair noire purchased(€15) This steel kit is made with waterjet cutting machine and for a large 200 liter barrel but as you can see it fit also on small barrels. You can't use aluminum on a wood stove. Not good results as you see. The steel baffle idea does make a difference, but I found out that mine had warped big time because it got so hot. I ran mine about 2 feet from the back of the stove, which forced the flames to travel to the front of the stove, over the baffle, then travel to the back of the stove to go out the flue pipe. I holds more heat in the stove and produces a lot more heat, almost too much!

Jami Karow contact for the firebarrel is www.firebarrel.nl/?page_id=76 but i guess that you are better off buying a cast iron set from ebay because you live in the usa shipping cost are huges and the barrel kit alone cost about 120 euro while from ebay you can get a set aprox 45 dollar

Waanzinnig coole stove man! Denk je dat het mogelijk is de schoorsteen van 150mm naar 100mm te versmallen onderweg zonder dat de schoorsteen niet meer werkt? Heb een 100mm doorvoer naar buiten voor kachelpijp, dus zou wel goed uitkomen als dat werkt....enig idee?
